Das Blender-Buch – 4th Edition! | BlenderNation
I am proud to anounce the 4th edition of my german language blender book “Das Blender-Buch”. This time completely full color printed on nice and heavy paper, 418 pages. The price is nearly the same as the old version (0.99 Euro-ct more).
The 4th edition was completely rewritten for Blender 2.5x+ versions, I cover the new Python API, physics based animations (Smoke, Fluid, Particles etc.)
You can have a look at some random chapters at the website of my publisher.
The book is based on version 2.58 of Blender, I recommend all beginners to use exactly this version (or 2.59) for the book first. Later it is then easy to switch to 2.6x versions, some relocated buttons and new functions will not fear you then anymore with the knowledge you gained.
Because I know that many of my readers also follow Blendernation.com I also would like to tell that I installed a Google+ site for my book .
I will use it to post news, informations and error-corrections for my book, so keep in touch and add this page to your circles. Using the comment functions it is also easy for you to give me feedback for this and future editions of my book. I will eventually switch completely to G+ with this, but I keep my Blog updated some more time.
For more general and english Blender topics follow me at http://gplus.to/CarstenWartmann .

which one is the best in terms of quality.. Magic Bullet blender (17pC) or Bella Cuisina blender (17pc) ? by using a convertor will it work in India ?
Bella Cusina~they are more adaptable, and with a converter, you shouldn't have a problem running it off the current in India.....Hope this helps.... Christopher K.
Blender ratings: difference between ability to smoothie and puree?
I'm in the market for a good blender. In reading Consumer Reports, they rated a Kitchen Aid excellent for purees and very good for smoothies. They rated a Braun blender exactly the opposite of the KitchenAid (very good for purees, excellent for smoothies). Isn't the ability to puree or smoothie the
No, not the same. Smoothie refers specifically to very thick drinks, often containing ice, that will load the motor heavily. I suggest you take a look at VitaMix units, too. We have one that we've used for something like 10 years. Yes,

Great design, go easy on the motor, though
I got this for my 17 year old son to make smoothies. He made the most delicious peach smoothie from ice and the Big Train Fruit Tea Smoothie Blast syrup also bought on Amazon. The consistency was smooth and perfect, just like a professional frozen drink. I asked him to make me one. On the second smoothie the motor died. We thought maybe it needed a little "rest" but sadly, it was the end of the road for that blender. When pressed for details, my son admitted that he noticed a burning smell before the motor stopped dead, and yet he kept pressing that button! Bottom line: great design, lightweight, nice personal cup size, easy storage and cleanup. The motor is just not very powerful, and can't take long blending times. Still, we are going to order a replacement and see if a bit more TLC while blending gives this blender better shelf life. Seems like it worked for some of the other reviewers. Update: we got the new blender and it is working out great. You just have to be... 3/5 S.A. "bham" (Southeastern MI USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I was looking for an inexpensive small personal blender that was powerful, easy to use, and could blend a perfect smoothie. I did a lot of research and looked into about a dozen other brands including the famed "Magic Bullet". What I found out was that not all personal blenders are made equal. The "Magic Bullet" didn't get very good reviews even though it is by far the most popular. After all my intense research, I settled on this one... The Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender. Here's the scoop on what makes this surprising blender the "cream of the crop" :) Pros: -Simple and easy to use -Easy to Clean -Powerful enough to chop frozen fruits (and probably ice too) -Pulse button allows you more control because you can start or stop it. -Seems very sturdy and only has 3 parts to it. (lid, glass, and base) -This thing is freaking cheap... got mine for $15. -Blends Smoothies perfectly with no unchopped pieces of fruit... 5/5 D. I'm amazed this blender has no reviews!
I purchased this blender about a year ago from Wal-Mart. I've had a number of blenders over the past 30+ years but always ended up giving them away because I seldom if ever used them -- too much bother -- and have this thing about getting rid of unused stuff but finding yet another excuse why I "need" to buy another blender. I got it strictly for smoothies. My sister convinced me they were good for me, but I wasn't about to pay $3-4 a pop for one smoothie. I was going to do all the research but saw this blender in Wal-Mart and just liked how it looked and really liked the price, around $18 at the time. I thought the spout thingee was neat, but I was really blown away by the 500 watts on this thing. I figured how bad could it be with 500 watts. I'm not a technical person but after comparing the wattage of this one with the others on display, I thought what have I got to lose? If it blew out after recouping the price of 4-5 smoothies, to me it would be a fair tradeoff... 5/5 Pilgrim "ezreader2" - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I bought 2 Wavestations this summer for an annual beach blender party I throw. Armed with a portable generator and tiki bar, I literally mixed over 100 batches of frozen drinks in each unit in just one afternoon (I stopped counting at 100). I have bartended professionally and recreationally for over 20 yrs and I have never run across a commercial blender, let alone a household version that can create fast, consistent smooth blends AND serve them to the last drop from a built in pour tap without ever having to remove the top from the base. Yes, the tap actually works, and works great! I'm buying more just in case some corporate idiot decides to drop the line. Don't let the low price scare you, the Wavestation is really one of those rare items today that actually work as advertised. Enjoy, and remember to party in moderation, or at least give your car keys to somebody how can! :) 5/5 S. Swartz (Montross, VA) - See all my reviews, November 26, 2009Don't buy this - get a real blender
I bought this for $20 at Wal-Mart, and after using it for a few weeks, I went back and bought an Oster blender for $25 and I am so much happier. With this Hamilton Beach Wave Station, my smoothies had ice chips, which I could ignore, but what really sent me back to the store was that the way the bottom is attached to the blender, you have to take it apart every time you use it because otherwise the smoothie gets down into the threads of the blender at the bottom and then spoils. Disgusting! Just washing out the blender doesn't get the smoothie out of that area. 2/5 Carol Griffith - See all my reviews, September 1, 2009

Oster BCBG08-C 6-Cup Glass Jar 8-Speed Blender, Brushed Nickel
Kitchen (Oster)
List Price: $49.99
Put my Kitchen Aid to shame!
It's sweet! Feels a bit cheap in the controls, plastic buttons but who cares. The jar, sharp blades, lid are all exactly like my parents Osterizer they got for their wedding in the 60's (which is still going strong). I make smoothie-whey protein shakes everyday (juices, yoghurt, apple sauce, whey protein, ice cubes, frozen strawberries-blackberries-blueberries, flax seed) all this stuff fills it to the top and the Oster made short work of it. Ten seconds or less. I think I kept it running longer just because I was used to my Kitchen Aid blender that I ran at multiple speeds plus pulse and still had chunks left over. Anyway, it's cheap, it's basic, it works better than high dollar blenders. I blend daily, I'm totally happy. 'nuff said. 5/5 zac thomas (Asheville, NC) - See all my reviews, September 11, 2010Oarwe blender really works.
Purchased this to replace a Procter Silex blender I just bought that does nothing. The Osster blender will take ice cubes and make it as fine as snow. Makes smoothies that are smooth. Bought this on Consumer Reports best buy rating, and it is great. 5/5 G. Speck (Connecticut) - See all my reviews, September 7, 2010I love it!
This blender does all that Consumer Reports said it does. It crushed ice superbly and ha all the power one might want, the metal drive unit seems very sturdy, and it is a great all-round blender. CR said it wasn't as good at making icy drinks as others they tested, but the only problem I found was that the ice does not get completely blended in, especially if multiple cubes are added at once. I found it was less of a problem if each ice cube is added singly and blended well before adding the next one. However. when making just crushed ice, it will handle multiple ice cubes at a time (just be sure to use pulse mode and don't over-crush unless you want slush). The user instructions suggest using the small clear plastic top for measuring, but it is not labeled with any lines or amounts. The glass pitcher is sturdy and has a wide pouring lip, and I like the side projections which prevent the bottom from loosening during blending. It is marked with 1-cup (and 250 ml)... 5/5 N. plastic gear drive broke after third use
We use our blender 2-4 times a week, and they typically have a lifespan of about 1-3 years, so after doing a ton of research I figured it would be more cost effective to buy a cheap blender every couple of years than shell out several hundred dollars for a really expensive blender that would last up to ten years. However the crush master was just not built well. It left chunks of ice in the jar and did not have enough power to make a "smooth" smoothie. You had to constantly stir to get the contents to blend. The third time using it, one of the plastic gears broke off of the bottom. Amazon was great about the return. I printed out the return label and they sent UPS to pick it up the next day. A week later I got fully refunded for the purchase. So after that we decided to spend a bit more money and went with the oster classic beehive blender (which you can also buy on amazon). It works wonderfully, has a metal gear drive, higher wattage and crushes up magaritas and smoothies in seconds... 1/5 A. Benjamin - See all my reviews, June 23, 2010We love it!
We have had our blender for about two months, and we use it all the time. We use it to make smoothies, milkshakes, and we use it for cooking. It is very powerful and can blend anything. The thing we love most about it is how easy it is to clean up. The bottom isn't cupped so it makes it easy to get a wet rag in and wipe it off. And if something spills it just drips down the side and doesn't get trapped inside. The price was awesome and it arrived sooner than expected. We would recommend this blender to anyone. 5/5 Levi Tippetts - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I purchased this item a few weeks ago and I have been happy overall with it. It was reasonably priced ($30) and looked like it had more power, speeds settings and features than comparable products. I use it primarily for making smoothies/frozen drinks and it performs very well, I also use it to blend food for cooking. I particularly like the heavy glass pitcher which has contours on the inside to guide the contents back down into the blades. Great design there as well as the latching bottom of the pitcher into the base. Very solid and powerful unit when assembled and full. The only thing I don't like about this is the design of the lid. The clear plastic cap in the middle of the lid does not snap in securely enough to allow you to remove the entire lid assembly (which must be grasped at the outside rim, rather wide for small hands). Overall a great purchase. 4/5 Thomas Edward Ledoux "Cooking Enthusiast" (Coppell, TX) - See all my reviews, April 25, 2010Motor-overheat protection system; fast-clean button; dishwasher-safe partsPush-button controls; 10 speed settings, plus pulse and ice-crush functionMeasures approximately 8-1/5 by 11 by 13 inches; 2-year limited warranty42-ounce heat-resistant glass blending jar; interlock system for safety450-watt countertop blender with multi-level stainless-steel blades -

Best yet!
This is the third hand blender I have owned, and is by far the most solid, smoothest running and easiest to clean. The brushed chrome construction looks great and is also easier to clean than plastic versions. Handy features like detachable base, included mixing cup and extra long mixer are thoughtful and useful. The motor is smooth and powerful - it is the Audi V8 of the hand blender world. For the quality, brand and power, $30 is an absolute steal. 5/5 P. Well ok, maybe I am not all shook up so much as BLENDED up. I purchased this immersion blender after my older no name brand unit purchased at Wally World died in the middle of blending a pot of hot soup. I like that you can wash the blenders blade assembly in the dishwasher and the stainless steel shaft is not stained like so many of the ALL PLASTIC models. Another thing I love is the power of the unit and the sharpness of the blades; they will reduce a pot of cream of broccoli soup to a smooth consistency in nothing flat. Oh and when I say broccoli soup folks, I MEAN broccoli soup. I put nearly two bunches of steamed broccoli in my soup and I only chunk it prior to blending with the immersion blender. This blender will puree` the soup to a perfect creamy texture in nothing flat. (Reserve a few pieces of the chunked broccoli to add back to the soup for texture purposes) I have also used it on my potato and asparagus soups with equally great results. If you... 5/5 C. This blender is good for the price. You get what you pay for. I paid $15.00 for it to travel with to make smoothies. If you hold down the button too long, there is a little burning smell coming from the motor, so it would be easy to burn it out. I have just blended protein powder, milk, and bananas with this and it has worked well for me. It's better to pulse the start button than to keep it running. 3/5 Leslie - See all my reviews This review is from: Hamilton Beach Single-Serve Blender with 2 Jars and 2 Lids (Kitchen) This blender is good for the price. This product is an effective and useful single-serving drink mixer that comes with a few drawbacks. It is basically a tiny kitchen blender with a pulse-blend button and no other speed settings. The mixer jar works just like a blender: it is a plastic jar with ounce/ml graduations on the side that contains a built-in mixer blade with a lug on the bottom to spin it when it is on the motor; you put the jar on top of the motor unit, twist to lock it into place (be sure the lid is on tight!), and hit the pulse button on the motor. The motor screams like a dying gerbil and the blade in the jar spins to mix your stuff. When that's done, you just pull the jar off the mixer and take it with you - blade and all. The mixer jar doubles as your drink container. The lid has a slideable spout cover for drinking from, and there is a plastic rim on the bottom so you can stand it upright. The jar is about 7 inches tall by 3.5 inches wide - so about the size of a large coffee... 4/5 Kevin T. Best blender ever!
I looked at what seemed to be a million blenders. I do a lot of vegan and raw foods but I didn't want to spend upwards of $400. I love this blender! It has handled everything I hoped it would, including frozen fruits for smoothies. It is very quiet for a blender. I like the die-cast base, the simple controls (who really needs 14 settings?), and the pulse setting. The only minor flaw is the difficulty in getting out the last 1/4 cup of whatever I've made. Overall, I very much recommend this blender. 5/5 Trudy Rose - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) A very powerful blender but it takes a bit of learning to get the results you want. It tends to put a lot more air into the mix compared to other blenders so you need a bigger glass when you are ready to serve whatever you have mixed. Don't drop the ice i a little at a time. Put it all in at once and then use the appropriate setting to mix the drink. In my first attempt with new new unit I dropped the ice in a little at a time and the blended drink froze up so quickly that the last pieces of ice didn't get chopped/blended into the drink. Easy to clean using a little dish detergent and water (mix), bottle brush or the blade assembly can be removed if you have something that has gotten really stuck in the bottom of the container. I researched various products and believed this unit was the best quality for the money. We have had this for about a month and have been very impressed with its power, ease of use, and simplicity in cleaning. I highly recommend this product. 5/5 Don L Pickens (Atlanta, ga. great blender
I make frozen fruit smoothies every day and I needed a blender that could handle that sort of heavy duty use. I bought one of these at Costco after seriously considering both the Blendtec and The VitaMix machines. I am so glad I bought this one. It has proven to be a great blender. Every morning I toss in frozen strawberries, bananas, pineapple, blueberries, oranges, and other types of fruit. To that I add protein powder and milk, secure the top and use the automatic (this lovely machine shuts itself off) setting to make a pitcher of really great, icey cold, somewhat frozen smoothies. Some days the mixture is so thick that we have to eat the it with spoons! Once in awhile I have to stop the blender and stir the contents because a piece of frozen fruit gets stuck. But that is a rare occurrence (the reversing blades are great at keeping things moving and blending). So why do I give this blender 4 stars instead of five? It is noisy. In my opinion it is very noisy. I have used Oster blenders for years, my last one a beehive, glass jar one was wonderful and held up to almost daily heavy duty use. I purchased it over 5 years ago. The only problem I ever had was the eventual cracking and breaking down of the housing around the blade unit. It was constructed of a heavy very durable plastic. I ordered a replacement part which was sold to fit that particular blender and sold here on Amazon. It didn't last a month. I just received my new Oster 600 Watt Counterforms blender and yes it has a glass jar and it may be 600 watts but I was VERY disappointed to see that the housing around the blade unit is very cheap PLASTIC!!! I will try to use this blender but am already disappointed that Oster has scrimped on a very important part of the blender's durability and usefulness!!! 6/29/2011 This is an edit - I bought this blender in August 2010 and here it is 10 months later and the housing completely split. I have had this blender for almost 3 years now. In that time I have made numerous shakes, smoothies and mixed drinks. The blades to date still do the jobs I intended them for. I haven't ever had any problems with the motor or the blades stopping mid blend. The noise is really loud but after so many uses I've tuned it out. It is easy to clean and doesn't look cheap or feel cheap. I don't use the food chop button as I either chop etc.. myself or I use my food processor. I didn't buy it for that. I'm very happy with this purchase then and now. 5/5 M. Search for the holy blender...
I have been looking for a blender for a few weeks now. We have started making smoothies at home and burned up our old one. Our girls like the "Chocolate Elvis" recipe from the local smoothie place which contains peanutbutter, bananas, yogurt, ice, and milk. I guess this is really hard on blenders. I bought one at Target 2 weeks ago that had "700 watts peak power" on the box. It died in 2 days. The power spec on the bottom of the blender said 450 watts. I think that is false advertisement. I have seen this on 2 different blenders now. I have been leery of buying any blender with the little plastic teeth couplers because of all the bad reviews here on Amazon. I also wanted to stay away from anything with only 450 watts. I was in another store and saw this blender. It has a new design for where the blades couple with the motor. "Commercial quality couplers with 12 interlocking teeth....coated for quiet operation". We have had it for a few days... 4/5 Band Dad (Orlando, FL) - See all my reviews This review is from: KitchenAid KSB560MC 5-Speed Blender with Polycarbonate Jar, Metallic Chrome (Kitchen) I have been looking for a blender for a few weeks now. We bought this Kitchenaid blender over a year ago, and after several months the container started to leak. The leak was small, and we put up with it for awhile. We finally got tired of the mess, however, and called the factory. We were told that the container had been redesigned, and they would send us a new one immediately even though our warranty had expired. When we got the new one we could see that it had indeed been redesigned, and have used it for some time now, and NO LEAKS. A leak proof container plus the other great features of this blender now warrant a definite five stars. 5/5 Robert Derenthal "bucherwurm" (California United States) - See all my reviews, May 25, 2008Do Yourself a Favor and Buy this Fantasitc Blender
My husband and I make smoothies almost every single night (as in, 6-7 nights/week), so we're really hard on our blenders. We have been through 4 blenders in the last 3 years alone. We started with a cheap Oster blender, but quickly realized that it was pretty much useless for the thick smoothies we like to make. Next, I bought the Back to Basics Smoothie Elite, which was great for as long as it held up, but as it turned out, that was only 6 months. So, we upgraded to the Back to Basics Smoothie Professional, which was great until I dropped the glass jar into the sink and broke it, only to find that you couldn't buy a new one ANYWHERE so my $120 blender was now worthless. After all this, I decided to stop fooling around and buy a Kitchenaid. This blender has all the power you need (way more power than any of the first 3 blenders I bought; both the smoothie blenders came with a stir stick, but such a thing isn't even necessary when you have the power of this... 5/5 AG Pym (Bookland) - See all my reviews This review is from: KitchenAid KSB560MC 5-Speed Blender with Polycarbonate Jar, Metallic Chrome (Kitchen) My husband and I make smoothies almost every single night (as in, 6-7 nights/week), so we're really hard on our blenders. 4th time's the charm
I've burned through 3 other brands of blenders -- each time the plastic "spinner" in the motor base (which mates to a plastic spinner in the pitcher's base that turns the blade) broke. Finally we decided to try out the Oster "Classic" because it uses a metal shaft that fits directly into the pitcher's base to turn the blades rather than the plastic disks that all the newer blender designs seem to use. That does the trick. I make a lot of fruit smoothies using frozen fruit -- which can be pretty hard on blenders -- but so far the Oster Classic has been up to the task. I highly recommend it! 5/5 Melissa (NY, NY USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Oster 4093 Classic Beehive Blender, Silver (Kitchen) I've burned through 3 other brands of blenders -- each time the plastic "spinner" in the motor base (which mates to a plastic spinner in the pitcher's base that turns the blade) broke. We bought this blender after a horrid experience with some Cuisianart mulit-speed blender that turned out to be a piece of ... Originally I was attracted to all the bells and whistles, but after all that leaked on the first pouring, I realized we had a problem, Houston. After cruising the ratings here, we bought the basic, two-speed (read: go and pulse) GORGEOUS chrome beehive blender. Somehow we got the one that had the mini-jar for dressings, the food processor, and milkshake blade with chrome cannister, all for less than the Cuisinart Multi-Function Mistake. :)This thing kicks. I've made dressings in it, and it was done with ease and they were blended well. Most importantly, I've made several batches of adult drinks involving ice, and as long as you add the ice a few cubes at a time, it turns out perfectly smooth (no ice chips hitting your teeth as you tip the glass).I LOVE OUR OSTERIZER BEEHIVE BLENDER!!!! We purchased this blender about 2 years ago, mainly based on price, simplicity of design and reviews from Amazon. After living with a high-maintenance Kitchen-Aid blender (all those little parts to clean!), The Oster seemed liked the answer to our blender dreams. Unfortunately after weekly use simply for smoothies, it quickly became apparent that this Oster was not like its formidable ancestors... The power is totally inadequate. Food constantly overwhelms the blade and any kind of blending totally stops. Close to its 2-year birthday, it gave up the will to live - following a weird grinding noise, smoke came from the base and then.... nothing. And now, here we are, searching for a new blender. 2/5 kozmonaut - See all my reviews This review is from: Oster 4093 Classic Beehive Blender, Silver (Kitchen) We purchased this blender about 2 years ago, mainly based on price, simplicity of design and reviews from Amazon.
