    Awesome and Perfect for Smoothies!!!

I was looking for an inexpensive small personal blender that was powerful, easy to use, and could blend a perfect smoothie. I did a lot of research and looked into about a dozen other brands including the famed "Magic Bullet". What I found out was that not all personal blenders are made equal. The "Magic Bullet" didn't get very good reviews even though it is by far the most popular. After all my intense research, I settled on this one... The Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender. Here's the scoop on what makes this surprising blender the "cream of the crop" :)Pros:-Simple and easy to use-Easy to Clean-Powerful enough to chop frozen fruits (and probably ice too)-Pulse button allows you more control because you can start or stop it.-Seems very sturdy and only has 3 parts to it. (lid, glass, and base)-This thing is freaking cheap... got mine for $15.-Blends Smoothies perfectly with no unchopped pieces of fruit.-Power cord... 5/5 D. Great design, go easy on the motor, though

I got this for my 17 year old son to make smoothies. He made the most delicious peach smoothie from ice and the Big Train Fruit Tea Smoothie Blast syrup also bought on Amazon. The consistency was smooth and perfect, just like a professional frozen drink. I asked him to make me one. On the second smoothie the motor died. We thought maybe it needed a little "rest" but sadly, it was the end of the road for that blender. When pressed for details, my son admitted that he noticed a burning smell before the motor stopped dead, and yet he kept pressing that button! Bottom line: great design, lightweight, nice personal cup size, easy storage and cleanup. The motor is just not very powerful, and can't take long blending times. Still, we are going to order a replacement and see if a bit more TLC while blending gives this blender better shelf life. Seems like it worked for some of the other reviewers.Update: we got the new blender and it is working out great. You just have to be... 3/5 S.A. nice ...with one big flaw

Works nicely for mixing up those breakfast protein shakes but the lid started cracking after only 3 months of daily use so when mixing it leaks at that point, I have to try to plug it with my finger to stop it from leaking onto the counter, other then that i'm happy with how easy it is to use and clean. 4/5 D. Great blender for the price

This is the best blender I've had, and also the least expensive. I've had it a few months, use it 4-5 times per week, and I'm really pleased with it. It blends properly and does not leave lumps in the bottom of the jar. The only odd thing is that you have to make sure the jug is positioned properly on the base - other brands of blenders I've used have jugs that lock down firmly. 4/5 Anon (Logan, UT, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Oster 6706 6-Cup Plastic Jar 10-Speed Blender, Black (Kitchen) This is the best blender I've had, and also the least expensive. It's Great! but the jar is Plastic...

I bought this blender about two months ago when my other Oster broke. Unlike my old one this came with a plastic jar. It works nicely and it can take a serious beating when i threw in four roma tomatoes whole. For the price it'll get the job done but if i could do it all over again i get one with a glass jar, cause plastic and odors from food like to hang out with each other. Plastic gets buffed in time as well. 4/5 1st2Fight - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great Blender

Customer Video Review Length:: 5:01 MinsSorry for the quality of the video, Amazon doesn't allow higher res videos but hopefully this will help you see what you are getting. Just to summarize this is a great blender especially for the price I was choosing between this and and I am extremely satisfied that I purchased the Osterizer because it has a higher capacity, way more blending options, and a built in fan to cool it. In the video the blender locks up for a second because I started with just straight ice and a little too much of it haha but once liquid and other ingredients were added all was well.Only cons are that it is plastic and that it doesn't lock although it is pretty secure. Also As stated in the video I have run this blender on high for 7 minutes straight... 5/5 Average Joe (MN) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Put my Kitchen Aid to shame!

It's sweet! Feels a bit cheap in the controls, plastic buttons but who cares. The jar, sharp blades, lid are all exactly like my parents Osterizer they got for their wedding in the 60's (which is still going strong). I make smoothie-whey protein shakes everyday (juices, yoghurt, apple sauce, whey protein, ice cubes, frozen strawberries-blackberries-blueberries, flax seed) all this stuff fills it to the top and the Oster made short work of it. Ten seconds or less. I think I kept it running longer just because I was used to my Kitchen Aid blender that I ran at multiple speeds plus pulse and still had chunks left over.Anyway, it's cheap, it's basic, it works better than high dollar blenders. I blend daily, I'm totally happy. 'nuff said. 5/5 zac thomas (Asheville, NC) - See all my reviews, September 11, 2010

    Oarwe blender really works.

Purchased this to replace a Procter Silex blender I just bought that does nothing. The Osster blender will take ice cubes and make it as fine as snow. Makes smoothies that are smooth. Bought this on Consumer Reports best buy rating, and it is great. 5/5 G. Speck (Connecticut) - See all my reviews, September 7, 2010

    I love it!

This blender does all that Consumer Reports said it does. It crushed ice superbly and ha all the power one might want, the metal drive unit seems very sturdy, and it is a great all-round blender. CR said it wasn't as good at making icy drinks as others they tested, but the only problem I found was that the ice does not get completely blended in, especially if multiple cubes are added at once. I found it was less of a problem if each ice cube is added singly and blended well before adding the next one. However. when making just crushed ice, it will handle multiple ice cubes at a time (just be sure to use pulse mode and don't over-crush unless you want slush). The user instructions suggest using the small clear plastic top for measuring, but it is not labeled with any lines or amounts. The glass pitcher is sturdy and has a wide pouring lip, and I like the side projections which prevent the bottom from loosening during blending. It is marked with 1-cup (and 250 ml)... 5/5 N. great blender

I make frozen fruit smoothies every day and I needed a blender that could handle that sort of heavy duty use. I bought one of these at Costco after seriously considering both the Blendtec and The VitaMix machines. I am so glad I bought this one. It has proven to be a great blender. Every morning I toss in frozen strawberries, bananas, pineapple, blueberries, oranges, and other types of fruit. To that I add protein powder and milk, secure the top and use the automatic (this lovely machine shuts itself off) setting to make a pitcher of really great, icey cold, somewhat frozen smoothies. Some days the mixture is so thick that we have to eat the it with spoons! Once in awhile I have to stop the blender and stir the contents because a piece of frozen fruit gets stuck. But that is a rare occurrence (the reversing blades are great at keeping things moving and blending). So why do I give this blender 4 stars instead of five? It is noisy. In my opinion it is very noisy. I wish I would have known

I have used Oster blenders for years, my last one a beehive, glass jar one was wonderful and held up to almost daily heavy duty use. I purchased it over 5 years ago. The only problem I ever had was the eventual cracking and breaking down of the housing around the blade unit. It was constructed of a heavy very durable plastic. I ordered a replacement part which was sold to fit that particular blender and sold here on Amazon. It didn't last a month.I just received my new Oster 600 Watt Counterforms blender and yes it has a glass jar and it may be 600 watts but I was VERY disappointed to see that the housing around the blade unit is very cheap PLASTIC!!! I have had this blender for almost 3 years now.In that time I have made numerous shakes, smoothiesand mixed drinks. The blades to date still do thejobs I intended them for. I haven't ever hadany problems with the motor or the blades stoppingmid blend. The noise is really loud but afterso many uses I've tuned it out. It is easy to cleanand doesn't look cheap or feel cheap. I don't usethe food chop button as I either chop etc.. myselfor I use my food processor. This blender is good for the price. You get what you pay for. I paid $15.00 for it to travel with to make smoothies. If you hold down the button too long, there is a little burning smell coming from the motor, so it would be easy to burn it out. I have just blended protein powder, milk, and bananas with this and it has worked well for me. It's better to pulse the start button than to keep it running. 3/5 Leslie - See all my reviews This review is from: Hamilton Beach Single-Serve Blender with 2 Jars and 2 Lids (Kitchen) This blender is good for the price. Useful, Some Glitches

This product is an effective and useful single-serving drink mixer that comes with a few drawbacks. It is basically a tiny kitchen blender with a pulse-blend button and no other speed settings. The mixer jar works just like a blender: it is a plastic jar with ounce/ml graduations on the side that contains a built-in mixer blade with a lug on the bottom to spin it when it is on the motor; you put the jar on top of the motor unit, twist to lock it into place (be sure the lid is on tight!), and hit the pulse button on the motor. The motor screams like a dying gerbil and the blade in the jar spins to mix your stuff. When that's done, you just pull the jar off the mixer and take it with you - blade and all. The mixer jar doubles as your drink container. The lid has a slideable spout cover for drinking from, and there is a plastic rim on the bottom so you can stand it upright. The jar is about 7 inches tall by 3.5 inches wide - so about the size of a large coffee carry-container;... 4/5 Kevin T. Best yet!

This is the third hand blender I have owned, and is by far the most solid, smoothest running and easiest to clean. The brushed chrome construction looks great and is also easier to clean than plastic versions. Handy features like detachable base, included mixing cup and extra long mixer are thoughtful and useful. The motor is smooth and powerful - it is the Audi V8 of the hand blender world. For the quality, brand and power, $30 is an absolute steal. 5/5 P. Ah hah, I'm all shook up!

Well ok, maybe I am not all shook up so much as BLENDED up. I purchased this immersion blender after my older no name brand unit purchased at Wally World died in the middle of blending a pot of hot soup. I like that you can wash the blenders blade assembly in the dishwasher and the stainless steel shaft is not stained like so many of the ALL PLASTIC models. Another thing I love is the power of the unit and the sharpness of the blades; they will reduce a pot of cream of broccoli soup to a smooth consistency in nothing flat.Oh and when I say broccoli soup folks, I MEAN broccoli soup. I put nearly two bunches of steamed broccoli in my soup and I only chunk it prior to blending with the immersion blender. This blender will puree` the soup to a perfect creamy texture in nothing flat. (Reserve a few pieces of the chunked broccoli to add back to the soup for texture purposes) I have also used it on my potato and asparagus soups with equally great results. If you are... 5/5 C. Cuisinart makes TERRIBLE hand blenders! They work well, but have an Achilles' heel...

We are now on our SECOND of this CSB-76BC model, having bought two because the price was so good. That was in February, and it's now July. This follows at least three other Cuisinarts, and they all have had the same problem: while the body of the machine may be nice and sturdy, the motor's strong and the blades do the job nicely, the drive shaft is connected with a REALLY CHEAP PLASTIC piece. And this WILL strip, and when it does, you'll be throwing out that otherwise-wonderful machine. The definition of insanity is repeating an action many times, expecting a different result. I readily confess to being insane, in that I keep thinking that maybe the next time, Cuisinart will have decided to salvage whatever's left of their reputation with the addition of one more piece of metal to their immersion-blender design.Don't be like me, please. I've burned through 3 other brands of blenders -- each time the plastic "spinner" in the motor base (which mates to a plastic spinner in the pitcher's base that turns the blade) broke. Finally we decided to try out the Oster "Classic" because it uses a metal shaft that fits directly into the pitcher's base to turn the blades rather than the plastic disks that all the newer blender designs seem to use. That does the trick. I make a lot of fruit smoothies using frozen fruit -- which can be pretty hard on blenders -- but so far the Oster Classic has been up to the task. I highly recommend it! 5/5 Melissa (NY, NY USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Oster 4093 Classic Beehive Blender, Silver (Kitchen) I've burned through 3 other brands of blenders -- each time the plastic "spinner" in the motor base (which mates to a plastic spinner in the pitcher's base that turns the blade) broke. Simple does it best

We bought this blender after a horrid experience with some Cuisianart mulit-speed blender that turned out to be a piece of ... Originally I was attracted to all the bells and whistles, but after all that leaked on the first pouring, I realized we had a problem, Houston. After cruising the ratings here, we bought the basic, two-speed (read: go and pulse) GORGEOUS chrome beehive blender. Somehow we got the one that had the mini-jar for dressings, the food processor, and milkshake blade with chrome cannister, all for less than the Cuisinart Multi-Function Mistake. :)This thing kicks. I've made dressings in it, and it was done with ease and they were blended well. Most importantly, I've made several batches of adult drinks involving ice, and as long as you add the ice a few cubes at a time, it turns out perfectly smooth (no ice chips hitting your teeth as you tip the glass).I LOVE OUR OSTERIZER BEEHIVE BLENDER!!!! Simple is really all you need in a blender. Great, but careful when you wash it

This is my third blender in the past 3 years. First one of this brand\model. I've owned this one for 2 years now. I make a smoothie every morning for breakfast. I don't put ice in my smoothie, but I do use frozen fruit and this blender blends up my milk and protein powder and flax seed and fruit in just under 20 seconds. Sometimes less if I use small fruits like blueberries.I really like this blender for the price and the quality of the components. It only has 3 settings. 1)off 2)regular on 3)high on. I only use the off and the regular on setting. What I don't like is washing it. Since I use this item daily, I like to just rinse it out and put the lid with the little top thingie in the top rack of the dishwasher and the pitcher with the glass, rubber seal, blade, and plastic bottom upside down on the lower rack of the dishwasher. Well if I don't remove the pitcher as soon as the washer is finished, the parts start to rust. So now the metal part with the blade is... 4/5 Mary (California) - See all my reviews This review is from: Oster 4093 Classic Beehive Blender, Silver (Kitchen) This is my third blender in the past 3 years. A real performerrrf

While I only purchased this blender a month ago,the the metal to metal design has been around a long time and is proven. I actually replaced an old Avocato Oster (circa 70's) blender that worked fine with a top of the line Kitchenaid three speed that I was finally glad to throw out. I have no axe to grind with Kitchenaid and own other of their products that work fine.I don't care what brand you buy but make sure that both the cup and the gear drive are both made of metal - metal to metal. If either is plastic, you'll be tossing it in five years or less. (Kitchenaid)Performance: tried crushing ice with this on high speed and it worked fabulously. Tried again on the low speed with the same results. Nice smooth ice and no chips. Also just used it to make a fine powder from soda crackers for a meatball recipe. Perfect. Nice soft powder, no chunks of crackers. My only other comment was price. If you do not need the Brushed Nickel, save the money ($20... 5/5 C. Frisbie - See all my reviews, June 25, 2010

    absolute junk..here's my story

Based on the other reviews for this product, I felt this would be an economical and well performing blender. It has only led to disappointment and frustration for me.I bought this blender at the store. The next day, I used it to blend batches of pumpkin soup. I have plenty of experience with Oster blenders, having owned the beehive model for several years. Yet I could not get the jar to sit securely on the motor base. It always seemed to have some wobble to it. I blended my soup, but somehow it didn't sound quite right to me, and there was a slight burning smell when it ran. Upon inspection I found that the drive shaft could be moved back and forth with my fingers. Looking through the vent at the bottom, I could see the whole motor was moving back and forth as I did this. About a 1/4 inch!I had already registered the warranty online, so I sent an e-mail to the company asking about this issue. It took two days to hear back from them, so in the meantime I returned the... 1/5 Serious Black (Portland, OR USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Oster 6811 Core 12-Speed Blender with Glass Jar, Brushed Nickel (Kitchen) Based on the other reviews for this product, I felt this would be an economical and well performing blender. Oster blender

I purchased this to replace a blender that was getting on in years. I specifically ordered it because of the glass jar. I feel healthier using glass products that are utilized over years of use. The blender works great. The first time I used it, I overloaded it with frozen fruit for a smoothie. It held its own and made a great smoothie. 5/5 Anne Murray "outdoor girl" (California) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) We love it!

We have had our blender for about two months, and we use it all the time. We use it to make smoothies, milkshakes, and we use it for cooking. It is very powerful and can blend anything. The thing we love most about it is how easy it is to clean up. The bottom isn't cupped so it makes it easy to get a wet rag in and wipe it off. And if something spills it just drips down the side and doesn't get trapped inside. The price was awesome and it arrived sooner than expected. We would recommend this blender to anyone. 5/5 Levi Tippetts - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) plastic gear drive broke after third use

We use our blender 2-4 times a week, and they typically have a lifespan of about 1-3 years, so after doing a ton of research I figured it would be more cost effective to buy a cheap blender every couple of years than shell out several hundred dollars for a really expensive blender that would last up to ten years. However the crush master was just not built well. It left chunks of ice in the jar and did not have enough power to make a "smooth" smoothie. You had to constantly stir to get the contents to blend. The third time using it, one of the plastic gears broke off of the bottom. Amazon was great about the return. I printed out the return label and they sent UPS to pick it up the next day. A week later I got fully refunded for the purchase. So after that we decided to spend a bit more money and went with the oster classic beehive blender (which you can also buy on amazon). It works wonderfully, has a metal gear drive, higher wattage and crushes up magaritas and smoothies in seconds... 1/5 A. Benjamin - See all my reviews, June 23, 2010

    Great Value

I purchased this item a few weeks ago and I have been happy overall with it. It was reasonably priced ($30) and looked like it had more power, speeds settings and features than comparable products. I use it primarily for making smoothies/frozen drinks and it performs very well, I also use it to blend food for cooking. I particularly like the heavy glass pitcher which has contours on the inside to guide the contents back down into the blades. Great design there as well as the latching bottom of the pitcher into the base. Very solid and powerful unit when assembled and full. The only thing I don't like about this is the design of the lid. The clear plastic cap in the middle of the lid does not snap in securely enough to allow you to remove the entire lid assembly (which must be grasped at the outside rim, rather wide for small hands). Overall a great purchase. 4/5 Thomas Edward Ledoux "Cooking Enthusiast" (Coppell, TX) - See all my reviews, April 25, 2010

Excellent Blender - best one I've ever had, and I've had many!

I was ready to write a great review for this blender the moment I got it, but I thought, no, I should test it out, see if it fails to perform over time. It's been months and it's just been a wonderful blender, no problems. The pulse button is a very handy addition, because it modifies both HIGH and LOW buttons with one push, so it's very one-hand-friendly. It's got a strong motor, which is not too noisy ... you can smoothly lift the cups to stop it automatically, which is super smart. Altogether a very neatly designed product.I use it every day, so it gets a serious work out on a weekly basis. Grinding coffee, making soups, smoothies, chopping vegetables into purees (of course you have to add liquid, it's not a food processor!). Whipping cream, chopping nuts, blending hot soups (careful, only fill it half way and start on LOW), etc...If you want a compact, super easy to clean blender, that can go in the dishwasher (plastic does get a bit cloudy, but I don't... 5/5 Amazon Customer LA (California, United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) DO NOT USE WITH ICE

Worked GREAT for 3 months - wonderful smoothies, with finely-crushed ice. Then the blender ripped its own bottom out!The motor generates lots of torque, and the plastic bottom to which the blades & drive are attached is NOT up to the job.Great blender for light-duty use. If you want to make smoothies (with ice) or do any heavy-duty chopping, don't buy this blender! 1/5 Chris Parker - See all my reviews, May 24, 2011

    Purees better than anything; convenient

I have really enjoyed using this product. I need to have easy-to-eat foods, so I started using blenders and a food processor to puree meals. What a pain, and the clean-up!! Don't get me started. This Cuisinart has saved the day. I fill it with the food I want to puree, add the liquid (needs more than you think) and then pulse. First on low, then high. I may take it off an shake it, and then run a bit more, occasionally I will run without pulsing for 30 secs. or so. Its fast!! It makes a smooth puree, better than my blender, better than my food processor and much quicker. Then I put the black top on the cup and viola, ready to eat. No other dishes needed. The clean up is easy -- just rinse the blade and put the top and cup in the dishwasher. There are plenty of cups and tops, so if I want to make another flavor or a side, I use another cup. This has been indispensable for me to eat regular food--the same food I make for my family, pureed. When I want hot items, I can put the cup in... 5/5 J. G.
