    Decided to buy a Bosch

I was looking for a either a kitchen-aid or Bosch mixer and after much research decided to go with the Bosch. The new kitchen-aids seem to be more concerned with offering the right selection of designer colours than making careful decisions about quality manufacturing. I have read all the reports of Kitchen-aids with melted plastic gearbox housings and leaking oil. They may have fixed some of these problems by now but the pedigree is not that of the Hobart produced machines of old. When whirlpool bought the kitchen-aid brand they obviously did a redesign to cut corners and make more money without due care to quality. I am not willing to spend over $400 on a machine that could fall apart after the warranty runs out, Bosch still builds there own machines and care about their reputation. The machine does everything I have tried. Whips eggs better than any other mixer I have tried. Makes cookie dough faster than I thought possible(used cookie mixing paddles). Made a batch a of... 5/5 P. It's a Workhorse!

5 star product!A serious home cook/baker, I've been a Kitchenaid owner for over 30 years, (both 5qt & 6 qt sizes). I still use them, but since purchasing the Bosch I reach for it most frequently. The Bosch Universal Mixer cannot be matched, particularly for high volume, and/or heavy doughs, it can mix up enough dough for several loaves of bread without any strain at all.Because of the unique design of the dough hook, the dough is stretched and kneaded much more thoroughly (most like hand-kneading) which is superior to the dough hook action of the KA, resulting in better gluten development for great textured breads. The only downside (if this IS one), is that the machine works best mixing enough dough for at least two loaves, any less than that it is not efficient. Since I always bake at least 2 to 4 loaves at a time and freeze the extras this is not a concern for me.I haven't had an opportunity to use the whisks or cookie paddles but I have no... 5/5 Homemaker in the West - See all my reviews This review is from: Bosch Universal Plus Mixer with Blender.Includes Cookie Paddles. 5 star product!A serious home cook/baker, I've been a Kitchenaid owner for over 30 years, (both 5qt & 6 qt sizes). Mixing: Excellent, Cleanup: Ugh...,

This mixer is powerful. You have the main unit where you attach your bowl, and a secondary unit where you can attach a blender. There are many, many accessories you can buy for this unit. Be sure if you buy accessories you buy for the correct unit as accessories for this model are NOT interchangeable with Bosch's previous all-in-one machine! I've already had to return one attachment because I made this mistake. Look for accessories that have a model number starting with MUZ6!This machine tears up just about any food you throw at it. When you turn it on you can get the feel for the full 800 watts of power it is capable of by it's roaring sound. You may need to run to your circuit breakers to find a suitable plug for the unit, since 800watts is just about the limit most circuit breakers can take. It's doubtful you can run this unit along with another kitchen appliance at the same time in the same receptacle.Cleanup is not fun, not fun at all. AMAZING blender!!!!

My mom bought me a Bosch Universal Plus, and it came with the blender. The first time I used it I made my daughter a kale smoothie with banana and blueberries, and I was amazed at how well it blended the kale! The smoothie was silky smooth in less than a minute whereas my old $50 blender took 15 minutes of on/off/push-the-stuff-down-action and left little kale bits that gave the smoothie a grainy texture. I was blown away. I have since made hummus and almond meal in my blender, and we make green smoothies on a regular basis. I'm going to try making raw almond butter in it later this week. This thing is seriously amazing. I had heard good things about a Vitamix before receiving this blender, but from what I've heard about the Vitamix, this blender does just as good of a job.The only downside is the noise. It is REALLY loud, but fortunately, my kitchen is on the opposite end of the house from the bedrooms. If you don't mind the noise, then DEFINITELY buy this if you use a... 5/5 C.S. Bosch Blender for Bosch Universal Plus

I like the way the engineers at Bosch have put the blender together. The top locks onto the jar by rotating the top unlike other blender tops. This blender also has removable blades which you can order through Bosch. The blender jar is sturdy and has graduations on the sides to let you use the jar itself for measuring. It is well made and the jar locks onto the base of the mixer using a twisting motion. 5/5 Le Ray Mecham "Chief Cook & BBQ Chef" (Concord, CA) - See all my reviews, May 22, 2010

    Best Blender I've Ever Had

I used to have a Vitamix, but it was so loud I hardly used it. This machine does a great job making smoothies and frosty drinks, and it's not so loud that I don't want to use it. The blender blades come off the machine which makes it easy to clean. And using the lid as the wrench to take off the blade is a nifty design. I haven't used the machine as much as I will once my garden harvest starts, but I anticipate it will work just as great as the Vitamix. 5/5 T. AWESOME, and what cleanup?

Well, I must be missing something the other reviewers aren't. I used this machine to make my huge batch of cookie dough. As usual, I made a monumental mess. NOT the machine's fault, I make a mess of everything in the kitchen. But this machine handled the mixing so easily I couldn't believe it. My Heavy Duty Kitchen Aid was a huge hassle, with the dough always climing up and getting everywhere, plus it was hard to add ingredients. At least with the Bosch, all I had to wipe up were dry spills caused by me, not dough flung everywhere. For those of you who complained about food getting in the gears, try standing on you head to clean the gears on the underside of the Kitchen Aid. Or better yet, try throwing it in the dishwasher. Geez!! Now that machine was hard to clean! To be honest, most of the mess from the Bosch was caused by me turning it on with only dry ingredients and no top on the unit. I thought it would just slowly stir on low speed, like the Kitchen Aid, but it... 5/5 Unnamed - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Bringing the power tool mentaility to your kitchen

Bosch has really designed a powerhouse here. 6 months ago, when I wanted to buy a stand mixer to replace a basic Sunbeam from years ago, I thought "Of course, I'm finally going to get that Kitchenaid I saw in the kitchen store all those years ago, but couldn't afford. That's the real deal." Then I read the reviews on Amazon, and read the Yahoo Mixer-Owners list and some other bread making lists. With the amount of complaints I saw, and the prohibitions in the manual against using too much flour or to high a speed or whatever, I decided I needed to keep looking.Enter the Bosch. The reviews and youtube videos showed that the way you know how much flour / dough you can make in this - when the bowl is full! That's the sort of obvious scenario I like! The Bosch Universal Plus (BUP) also has quite the reputation for lasting forever. So far, I have no reason to doubt that. I've done 6 loves of bread at once in this, and it's never gotten hot, shut down or even slowed down. Wonderful heavy-duty household mixer

I have now had my Bosch for a couple of months. The model I have is a slightly more powerful (1000W) European version with the metal bowl, but otherwise it is the same. It replaces a much-loved Kitchen Aid mixer which I had in the States. I must say that as much as I loved my Kitchen Aid, this Bosch model outperforms it as well as many other mixers. My first impression of the machine upon using it to make bread was that it was way too easy. After using industry-grade Hobart machines, Kitchen Aid, Electrolux, and Kenwood for many years in work and home, I was amazed at how well and effortlessly the Bosch kneaded the dough. I have not one time need to scrape down the sides and there is no spillage. The capacity is truly enough to make 4 loaves of bread at a time. The lid performs wonderfully, leaving no place for ingredients to escape. Further, the removable part of the lid allows the most space for adding ingredients of all home machines which I have tried. As comparisons: I... 5/5 K. Uddu (Oslo, Norway) - See all my reviews, November 17, 2009

    The BEST on the market

After going through several of the Kitchenaid 600 Professional mixers over the past few years, I finally had enough and returned my last Kitchenaid mixer and bought a Bosch Universal Plus.. It was the best decision I have made. My Kitchenaid motor was getting hot just mixing up ONE loaf of bread, keeping with the 4 minute knead time that Kitchenaid suggests. After getting the Bosch, I was amazed at how effortlessly it mixed up 4 loaves of bread - it was the best experience I have had with a mixer. It is much easier to clean than my Kitchenaid and easier to use. I typically make a minimum of 3 loaves of bread every week, sometimes more, and needed a mixer that could handle that with no problems - my wish was granted. I love all the attachments that are available as well - with the powerful motor, the blender works amazingly and again was easy to clean. I would highly recommend this mixer - you won't be sorry with this purchase! 5/5 libertybay "libertybay" (Tucson, Arizona) - See all my reviews This review is from: Bosch Universal Plus with Blender Model: MUM6N10UC After going through several of the Kitchenaid 600 Professional mixers over the past few years, I finally had enough and returned my last Kitchenaid mixer and bought a Bosch Universal Plus.. So far so good!

I just sold my kitchenaid and purchased this machine a few weeks ago. I love it so far. A few things I love are the suction cups on the bottom so that the machine stays in place as it works on bigger batches. I recommend you store it on it's side, (there are rubber pads on the side to store it this way.) It seems like if you store it flat the suction cups will wear out faster. It is a more compact design than before, which is nice, but I am hoping it will hold up like other models have. A lot of people complain that there are a lot of pieces to clean, I don't mind the cleaning aspect, but virtually everything is dishwasher safe if that's an issue for you. (I always hand wash mine because I think it holds up better.) It's a larger capacity mixer and does a better job with my doughs than any other mixer I've used. . 5/5 Erinboarder "erinboarder" (Lehi, UT) - See all my reviews This review is from: Bosch Universal Plus with Blender Model: MUM6N10UC I just sold my kitchenaid and purchased this machine a few weeks ago. Bosch

BEST food processor I've ever owned

I've only owned a few low-end food processors before, so this is a major step-up for my kitchen. I love that it harnesses the power of my Bosch Universal and makes it a true multi-function machine and workhorse.I've made creamy-smooth hummus, chopped chickpeas for falafel, and will make salsa with it tomorrow - why dice by hand for something like salsa when I'm going to cook it down in the end anyhow? The only reason I've given it 4 stars and not 5 is that the first time I washed it, I noticed two little rust spots on the regular blade. I need to call Bosch about that and see what to expect - I don't expect a food-processor blade to rust after its first use. I have no doubt that Bosch will make it right, but it was slightly disappointing to find it on the blade to begin with. 4/5 S. Talbert - See all my reviews, October 3, 2011

    A bit if a pain.

I bought this to process the ingredients for salsa and other recipes. It did the job, but opening up and unloading is surprisingly a lengthier process than one might imagine. Because of the safety features of its design, you must remove the whole unit from your Bosch before you can take the top off. And because some types if veggies like to get caught under the lid instead of get processed, which leads to a mess when the top is removed. Other than the torque you get from the Bosch to power through anything, I couldn't recommend this over a food processor that costs $50 and doesn't trap food under the top. A huge disappointment from Bosch's otherwise fine engineering. I'm wondering how this could have made it past their quality controls and testing when this product was designed.Don't buy unless you got money to blow. 3/5 Chad Voller (South St. Paul, MN) - See all my reviews, January 21, 2012

First I must say that Bosch's customer service is the worst I have ever seen or dealt with. They are rude and demeaning but if you never have to deal with them then this product is a joy to own and use.It is the best thing in my kitchen. It is the very best mixer I have ever had or used and that has been plenty because I am getting up in years. This mixer out does even my Kitchen Aid by lots and it looks great on my counter. I gave away the Kitchen Aid.It is not just a mixer because it has many attachments and that turns it into a blender, a grain & meat grinder, a cookie press, a shreeder, food processor, a berry press and on and on. You do not need to have all those other things sitting all over your kitchen taking up space because this does it all.You might be thinking that you have tried those machines that claim to do it all but because they try to do it all they do not do anything well. That is not the case here. I'v had a bosch since 1990, and I've yet to find an appliance to compare. I would love to upgrade to the larger model. I had a Kitchen Aid Pro in my business and had to send it back to the company three times in two years. I never want to own another Kitchen Aid. I highly recommend this product for everyday baking, and if you do large volumns of bread, I would recommend the larger one. This model says it will do three loaves, and I have done 3, but two work out perfectly. It makes the best homemade bread I'v ever tasted. 5/5 K. Great for what it is

It's difficult to rate this little mixer with stars, because it's such a unique item. It's made to fit into a place that does not have room for a stand mixer, and as such, it has some quirks that have to be dealt with. There is only one bowl that will fit, so if you need to mix two things, you have to mix one, take that out, wash the bowl, then mix the other. The beaters have to be in a certain position to be raised; otherwise, they hit the side of the bowl. But for anyone who doesn't have room for a big stand mixer, it's a wonderful little machine. I have made cookies, bread, whipped cream, and meringue with this mixer, and it did a great job on all. The dough hook is amazingly effective. I am very pleased with this mixer because I have a tiny kitchen, but if I had a lot of counter space, I'd opt for a big Kitchenaid. What led me to buy this mixer is that Cooks Country magazine rated it second to the Kitchenaid in their test of mixers. It's a gem. 4/5 Ginny Lavender (Fort Worth, Texas USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Bosch Compact Mixer mum4405 It's difficult to rate this little mixer with stars, because it's such a unique item.
