    Nice oven mitts

I bought these to bring camping. We often cook over the fire with cast iron and using these mitts instead of pot holders made it so much easier and safer. It is nice that they go a ways up the arm and are fairly thick. Ten bucks for two - I'd recommend them. 4/5 K. H. (Ithaca, NY) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Everything I thought it would be

This is cheese cloth and fine cheese cloth at that. I use it to strain herbs out of tinctures and such and it works great, I do double over the section I cut off as to catch more material but I think that's the case with all cheese cloths. Not to expensive, comes quick, 27 sq ft!!!, and does the job. What more can you ask for?Update: I still like this product and it has been working great but wanted to let everyone know something about the size of this cloth. The width of this cloth is probably only about 7 inches I would say but it is pretty long so sometimes can be hard to keep all of your material you are straining inside the cloth. So as I said before I double it over and sometimes fold it into a v shape increase the width. Also I have used one 3 foot section on 4 separate occasions and simply washed it well and left to dry and it is still holding up. It's so cheap you don't have to but I am a thrifty person like that haha 5/5 Average Joe (MN) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) No negatives, good value

Briefly: right length for most uses, right price, certified HDMI 1.3/Cat 2 and a 'super savers' item (free shipping when ordering over $25 worth of Amazon merchandise). Can't get much better than this.Given the 1 yr. warranty promise and the ability to easily return the wire to Amazon if you get a defective item, I see no 'negatives'.[Anyone remembers the old "I am not going to spend a lot for this muffler" commercial?]The 3-6 ft. are the optimum lengths to connect most electronics. I am actually using 3 ft. cables whenever the connected devices happen to be very close to each other because, when it comes to cables, shorter is almost always better :).Just in case someone may feel guilty for not paying a lot more for a premium brand, it should be stated that at these lengths - 3-6 ft., you will get as good a service from a no-brand cable as you would from a super-expensive rip-off. Great Cables, and I've literally seen most

So to begin, I'm a Home Theater Installer. I spent five years with Best Buy both selling and installing TVs. I never got too much into the Monster Cable stuff, as at the end of the day, it's copper wire with covering; I used to sell people the less expensive cables, citing this as the reason. That said, you can judge an HDMI Cable on two (2) things: Pictures Quality, which, for the vast majority, will be absolutely the same, whether the cable costs you $1 or $1,000. This is why people say don't spend more money, and they'd be mostly right. However, the 2nd category that's used to judge HDMI Cables is build quality, and THAT can be a big difference. All build quality really refers to is the head (The gold part you plug into the devices you have), and how it will do considering the rest of the cable is hanging off of it, thus potentially causing it to bend and snap. THIS is why some cables are worth spending more money on. I mean if you don't put it on the wall and hide the... 5/5 NJScreenwriter - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Game Physics Engine Development, Second Edition: How to Build a Robust Commercial-Grade Physics Engine for your Game

    Book (Morgan Kaufmann)

    Rating (5 reviews):
    (4.2/5)
    Morgan Kaufmann

A book to get you a real, working physics engine.

Let's first say that I've seen my fair share of physics literature. I've pored over papers, tutorials, etc. with little to show beyond some simple collisions between spheres. What I really wanted to implement was something ideally "not" much more difficult: a rigid body simulation with simple primitives (spheres, boxes, planes) that collide and interact with each other, giving a realistic enough feel to build a game around.Unfortunately, even this idea is extremely complex and difficult to implement. You would think the math and code would be fairly easy, and it actually is (depending on your math background. A few semesters of college calculus and physics is very helpful, but not required). But programming a physics engine is 40% math and physics and 60% being clever enough to get the computer to do what you want. Floating point errors, inaccuracies in integration and bugs you can't even imagine from the start all mess with your beautiful equations. And this is... 5/5 Daniel Greenheck - See all my reviews, April 13, 2011

Not what I had hoped for

I already had a book on physics for games on my shelf and I bought this one online (without seeing inside) hoping it would be more clear than the one I already had. Nope. Not a bit. Both of them assume you have a bachlors degree in physics or mathematics. Ok. That's a slight exageration. But let me tell you Force equals Mass times Acceleration. Did that take Calculus notation to explain? Apparently it does because both books explain the most simple concepts by giving you calculus formulas. That's great if you've taken a few years of calculus in college. But for normal people you might as well write the book in a foreign language. And I understand basic college level physics. My college physics text book for the first two semesters doesn't have one calculus formula in it ANYWHERE. Not ONE.That's awesome that the author knows calculus. Quite frankly I'm a little jealous and wish I would take the time to take a calculus class. But in the meantime this book is... 2/5 B. Beck (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews, May 8, 2012

    Clear, practical and up-to-date

I will keep this review short and sweet.I have been programming games of one sort or another for 25+ years. On my shelf are 10 books on game physics and a foot-high stack of magazine articles. This book is the best, most clear, practical treatment I have ever come across. It makes the mathematics and concepts digestible, and examines and weighs the trade-offs that go into any engine. The sample code is simple and ready for implementation in languages besides C++.The author clearly discusses issues around implementing a physics engine on everything from a console system to mobile devices.A fine resource for medium to advanced programmers. 5/5 Spencer Grey (New York) - See all my reviews, August 26, 2010

These "hot" gloves fit like most regular gloves, and there-in lies the rub. One would not grab a hot oven dish with regular, snowball throwing gloves, and that's what it felt like. But with some "build-up", from warm to hotter plates, my wife worked up to a confidence level where she now prefers these Oven Gloves. They are not as bulky as classic mitts. They work fine, but are kinda thin, so you wouldn't want to just hold a 400 degree dish while watching the end of NCIS. You can take it out of the oven and move it to the counter without problem. 5/5 G. Possert "Gary747" (Lancaster, CA USA) - See all my reviews, January 2, 2011

    Incredible protection without losing grip

My mom gave me 2 of these gloves for Christmas. I have to admit that I was a little skeptical at first as the gloves seem to be very thin. I am used to my cumbersome but protective mitts when I barbecue, so far they've done the trick, but it is very difficult to properly manipulate all of the barbecue tools with a mitt. The gloves allow very easy handling of forks, flat spatulas, tongs and brushes. Oiling the meat with a brush is no challenge with these gloves on, no chance of dropping anything. From a heat protection stand point, my first fears were quickly gone when I tried to slide one of the bbq grids, after it was lit for 15 minutes. The metal was certainly very hot, but the glove had more than enough insulation to let me do the job without taking the heat. It feels weird at first as you barely can feel the glove on your skin, but the protection is there. In addition to resistance to burn, the very thick cotton mesh liner seem to make the glove resistant to cuts as... 5/5 Patrice Bonnefoi - See all my reviews This review is from: Flame Resistant Oven Glove Commercial Grade (Tools & Home Improvement) My mom gave me 2 of these gloves for Christmas. My Ryobi weedwhacker died, I liked what I read about this Hitachi elsewhere, and I had some hope of fitting my now-useless Ryobi saw, blower, etc. onto this unit (I believe that Ryobi is the same size as several other brands that take attachments) but even though they look extremely similar in photos, the Ryobi devices will not mate with the Hitachi. One is too big for the other to fit by a small margin. Perhaps this winter I will look for a way to modify or adapt them to do so. I do like the Hitachi's operation and handling very well and recommend it, but Amazon ships it in the "store box" only, so check for damage carefully, there are parts rattling around inside. Earlier I had purchased one from Amazon's Warehouse Deals (a returned item apparently) at a small discount over "new" and they had not taped the box well enough before shipping, it arrived virtually destroyed with parts missing from the box. I use a string trimmer to clear the edges (around trees, fence, driveways, landscaping, etc.) before cutting the grass & was disappointed when my old trusty split-shaft Toro started to head south. It was no fault of Toro trimmer, but more just the total hours of operation. Since purchasing our new home about 5 years ago, it'd been put to very heavy use trimming & tilling the yard into shape. After looking at all of the pro line brands available at local dealers, I was leaning toward just getting another Toro. I'm so glad I stumbled on to this one at Amazon. The great reviews of the similar solid shaft Hitachi also hold true for this one.I've used it twice & replacing the string is a breeze. The weight is balanced perfectly, very easy starting, & plenty of power. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design & the 7 year warranty for home use is just another big plus. One thing nice thing I've noticed, compared to other models, is... 5/5 Chuck - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This is my second machine and I bought it because it seemed heavier duty than most in the price range. While the criticism about plastic parts is fair, the body is solid metal and heavy and the motor is extremely powerful. It's very easy to use, and the self adjusting tension is great, as I hate messing around with tension. the light could be brighter but overall I'm really happy with it. Lifetime Machine

I have found this machine to be both compact and well made. Mostly metal, there are a few plastic bits, but I don't think these would cause future problems. It's FAST- super fast. It zips through heavy weight fabrics with ease. I am pleased with the simple, but useful array of stitches (my other machines offer more stitches, but I rarely use them). This machine is stable and does not bounce (I have returned other machines that bounce when used).I think the light could be vastly improved -- it is way too dim. I prefer the LCD light on my other machines. All and all, I would buy this machine again and recommend to other crafters.UPDATE: I have now been using this machine for several weeks. I'm very impressed-- the speed is fabulous-- note, this may be too fast for people new to sewing. Good thing Singer added a finger guard (which gets in the way a bit, but I'm sure I would have otherwise sewn through my fingers by now). Made Cheap and It's Out of Balance

I just installed it on the wall in my shop. The cheap plastic and the tiny motor were the first clues. Installed it wobbles like it has one fan blade missing. I thought I was buying a 'name brand' fan that I could expect 5 or more years of service from. I doubt this fan will last 1 year. The Air King brand used to mean quality. No longer. 2/5 Mark Hendricks "Temkin" (Nashville, TN) - See all my reviews, July 18, 2008

    Deception at its BEST!

This Fan shakes and vibrates on the high speed extremely violent. Using it on "Low to Med Speeds" are somewhat acceptable with less shake and vibration. I should of returned it when I read another reviewers mention the same issue on the Air King Site Reviews. Be advised the fan blades are 16 inches the only thing that's 18" is the Flimsy Air Plastic Fan Guard....which is the source of the vibration and problem. I am not a Fan Manufacturing Designer, but wouldn't it make more sense to do the the inner fan guard in metal then in flimsy plastic if your trying to fool the buying public? And not to try to pass on a smaller Fan as a 18" buy employing a bigger Fan Guard?? Air King really," What Were You Thinking" when you manufactured this fan for the American market passing it of as an 18" Fan when in all actuality its a 16' fan with an over size guard? Maybe the excessive shaking serves a purpose....Like a visually larger fan with NOISE due to the big Grill!!! Don't buy this worthless... 1/5 M. Game Physics Engine Development: How to Build a Robust Commercial-Grade Physics Engine for your Game

The brown butcher paper accessory pack contained sugar tablets, Halazone water purification tablets, a flat wooden spoon, a piece of candy-coated chewing gum, 3 "short" sample 3-packs or one "long" sample 9-pack of commercial-grade cigarettes and a book of 20 cardboard moisture-resistant matches, a paper-wrapped P-38 can opener printed with instructions for its proper use, and several sheets of toilet paper. The P-38 can openers were generally worn on the GI's "dog tag" chain to facilitate opening the next meal's cans. In 1945, the accessory pack was modified. Per the order of the Surgeon General, the Halazone tablets were removed and salt tablets were added. Also, feedback from the field revealed that soldiers who smoked often opened up accessory packs just to get the cigarettes and threw away the rest of the items. To reduce waste, the accessory pack was now divided into the "short" pack with cigarettes and matches and the "long" pack containing the other accessories. Cigarette brands issued included Camel, Chelsea, Chesterfield, Craven "A"-Brand, Lucky Strikes, Old Gold, Philip Morris, Player's, Raleigh, and Wings.
