Cuisinart Blenders -- You're In Good Company With a Cuisinart

  • Jul 30, 2010 from hamiltonbruce08
hamiltonbruce08 Filed under: Kitchen & DiningCuisinart is well-known for their mixing blenders -- you can find them in famous restaurants the world over, or in the hands of millions of home town chefs. All will agree that Cuisinart is a first-class product.

This CBT 500 SmartPower Blender is a perfect example of why Cuisinart blenders are widely respected -- a powerful 600 watt blending drive motor, in a cast metal and stainless steel -- easy to clean -- housing; simple to operate push button controls, a 50 ounce (equal to about 1 1/2 quarts) blending jar with a measuring index that allows you to double or triple the recipe quantities that other blenders use, a tight-fitting push-on cover, and the ability to not only blend fruits, veggies, and similar foods, but also crush ice. Good stuff.

The Cuisinart Smart Stick Hand Blender is a very clever variant of the classic kitchen tool. This versatile blender features a stainless steel housing, holding a 200 watt motor that is operated with push buttons, on the stick, that allow for continuous or pulse blending. The appliance package includes a whisk, a chopper, and a 16 ounce measuring or mixing beaker; alternatively, you can blend ingredients In a container of your own.

When you think Cuisinart, you generally think of fruits, not coffee, but the company makes a very nice coffee grinder -- the Cuisinart Burr Grinder. It's fully programmable, with 18 grinding settings ranging from very fine to very coarse; the bean hopper will hold about 1/2 pound of beans and you may select cup quantities from 2 to 14. The grinder features a countdown timer and auto shutoff, all noted on the LCD display.

Cuisinart blenders are the standard of kitchen appliances to which other companies aspire. You're in good company with a Cuisinart.Permalink|Email this|LinkingBlogs|Comments

    cheap parts ruin this blender

This blender has great power - which is why I bought it and the price was decent. The base (where the motor is) is nice and solid and metal cased. The glass jar is solid and huge. The part which I have BIG complaints about is the bottom part (which you screw the jar and blades into) This part is made of CHEAP THIN PLASTIC plus it is very very difficult to screw on tightly (to prevent leaks when blending) and even more difficult to unscrew once you finish use and want to clean it. 2/5 speedyk "perennial novice" (Tucson USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Cuisinart Smartpower 600-watt Blender (Kitchen) Bought on sale at Costco for $47 new. VitaMix guy was demoing, but I wanted to try the smoothie lifestyle first. With a small portion of the money I saved (1/8th the cost of the VM) I got big bags of frozen fruit and juices and some veggies to try.I see some of the other reviewers have had issues...I'll leave it there. If you try pouring from the little spout in the center it won't work, but if you pour from the corner it works perfectly well and is easier on your hand.If you can't get the pitcher base off (and the skirt is thin plastic with no good grip), put it on the base and then loosen by turning against the base, very easy. Same with making it tight, only turn it the other way, the part that contacts the motor base is thicker than the skirt. If the drive slips because you didn't bother to put the pitcher on properly, you need to slow down and focus a bit. Perhaps cut down on coffee. Take 5 and go fire a couple of employees, then try... Read more Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 15, 2004

I use it almost exclusively for smoothies made of frozen fruit and juice (no ice); for smoothies it's a real problem. The blades stick all the time. It blends the bottom fruit without getting to the top. Worst of all, it DOES NOT POOR WITHOUT SPILLING. I have no idea how ANY company could design a blender without some kind of pouring lip. This product should be pulled from the market and redesigned. Don't be sucked in by the Cuisinart name. Save your money.
