    Awesome and Perfect for Smoothies!!!

I was looking for an inexpensive small personal blender that was powerful, easy to use, and could blend a perfect smoothie. I did a lot of research and looked into about a dozen other brands including the famed "Magic Bullet". What I found out was that not all personal blenders are made equal. The "Magic Bullet" didn't get very good reviews even though it is by far the most popular. After all my intense research, I settled on this one... The Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender. Here's the scoop on what makes this surprising blender the "cream of the crop" :)Pros:-Simple and easy to use-Easy to Clean-Powerful enough to chop frozen fruits (and probably ice too)-Pulse button allows you more control because you can start or stop it.-Seems very sturdy and only has 3 parts to it. (lid, glass, and base)-This thing is freaking cheap... got mine for $15.-Blends Smoothies perfectly with no unchopped pieces of fruit.-Power cord... 5/5 D. Great design, go easy on the motor, though

I got this for my 17 year old son to make smoothies. He made the most delicious peach smoothie from ice and the Big Train Fruit Tea Smoothie Blast syrup also bought on Amazon. The consistency was smooth and perfect, just like a professional frozen drink. I asked him to make me one. On the second smoothie the motor died. We thought maybe it needed a little "rest" but sadly, it was the end of the road for that blender. When pressed for details, my son admitted that he noticed a burning smell before the motor stopped dead, and yet he kept pressing that button! Bottom line: great design, lightweight, nice personal cup size, easy storage and cleanup. The motor is just not very powerful, and can't take long blending times. Still, we are going to order a replacement and see if a bit more TLC while blending gives this blender better shelf life. Seems like it worked for some of the other reviewers.Update: we got the new blender and it is working out great. You just have to be... 3/5 S.A. nice ...with one big flaw

Works nicely for mixing up those breakfast protein shakes but the lid started cracking after only 3 months of daily use so when mixing it leaks at that point, I have to try to plug it with my finger to stop it from leaking onto the counter, other then that i'm happy with how easy it is to use and clean. 4/5 D. This blender is good for the price. You get what you pay for. I paid $15.00 for it to travel with to make smoothies. If you hold down the button too long, there is a little burning smell coming from the motor, so it would be easy to burn it out. I have just blended protein powder, milk, and bananas with this and it has worked well for me. It's better to pulse the start button than to keep it running. 3/5 Leslie - See all my reviews This review is from: Hamilton Beach Single-Serve Blender with 2 Jars and 2 Lids (Kitchen) This blender is good for the price. Useful, Some Glitches

This product is an effective and useful single-serving drink mixer that comes with a few drawbacks. It is basically a tiny kitchen blender with a pulse-blend button and no other speed settings. The mixer jar works just like a blender: it is a plastic jar with ounce/ml graduations on the side that contains a built-in mixer blade with a lug on the bottom to spin it when it is on the motor; you put the jar on top of the motor unit, twist to lock it into place (be sure the lid is on tight!), and hit the pulse button on the motor. The motor screams like a dying gerbil and the blade in the jar spins to mix your stuff. When that's done, you just pull the jar off the mixer and take it with you - blade and all. The mixer jar doubles as your drink container. The lid has a slideable spout cover for drinking from, and there is a plastic rim on the bottom so you can stand it upright. The jar is about 7 inches tall by 3.5 inches wide - so about the size of a large coffee carry-container;... 4/5 Kevin T. Best Single Mixer For The $$$$

I've owned this single-serve blender for over a year. We use it 2 times every day (& sometimes more) with ice, fruit, protein powder, etc. We fill it to the top most times too. It blends great every time. No problems at all, ever! Wish I could say that for my Kitchen-Aid large blender. I highly recommend this small blender. 5/5 YakPat (Beautiful NE Washington State) - See all my reviews This review is from: Hamilton Beach 51103 Single Serve Blender with Travel Lid (Kitchen) I've owned this single-serve blender for over a year. Great Fruit Smoothie Maker

This little blender is a jewel. Just the right size for a fairly large fruit smoothie. I've had it now for about a month, and have made a breakfast drink every day and its been very dependable. Some of the reviews I read prior to purchasing this one were somewhat negative. The issue was smelling the electric motor like it was overheating and not being able to blend some fruits like pineapple or apples. I haven't experienced the problems and suspect the folks were not (1)"pulsing" the drink mix as called for in the instructions and (2) not using only tender fruits like bananas and strawberries. The small motor is not designed for a hard grind nor continuous use, hence "pulse is required". And on top of being the right size, this blender was priced within my frugal budget. Yes, I'm a tight wad and demand a good product for my money, and this one fit the bill.Ric 5/5 R. Thompson "Tool Nut" (Texas, US of A) - See all my reviews, July 31, 2010

    Stay tuned.

Purchased for use as an ice crusher/shaver, not as a smoothie maker. I don't make smoothies (I will try some). I bought this because it is inexpensive. It works nicely as a crusher if pulsed with five or six ice cubes. Run it longer between pulses to get shaved ice. There is no on/off button: if the unit is plugged in and you touch the Pulse button, it will go. Unplug the unit until you have everything ready. When you are finished, unplug it. 4/5 HMVincent "The House of No" (Richmond, CA USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Hamilton Beach 51103 Single Serve Blender with Travel Lid (Kitchen) Purchased for use as an ice crusher/shaver, not as a smoothie maker. I'm amazed this blender has no reviews!

I purchased this blender about a year ago from Wal-Mart. I've had a number of blenders over the past 30+ years but always ended up giving them away because I seldom if ever used them -- too much bother -- and have this thing about getting rid of unused stuff but finding yet another excuse why I "need" to buy another blender. I got it strictly for smoothies. My sister convinced me they were good for me, but I wasn't about to pay $3-4 a pop for one smoothie. I was going to do all the research but saw this blender in Wal-Mart and just liked how it looked and really liked the price, around $18 at the time. I thought the spout thingee was neat, but I was really blown away by the 500 watts on this thing. I figured how bad could it be with 500 watts. I'm not a technical person but after comparing the wattage of this one with the others on display, I thought what have I got to lose? If it blew out after recouping the price of 4-5 smoothies, to me it would be a fair tradeoff... 5/5 Pilgrim "ezreader2" - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) A great party blender

I bought 2 Wavestations this summer for an annual beach blender party I throw. Armed with a portable generator and tiki bar, I literally mixed over 100 batches of frozen drinks in each unit in just one afternoon (I stopped counting at 100). I have bartended professionally and recreationally for over 20 yrs and I have never run across a commercial blender, let alone a household version that can create fast, consistent smooth blends AND serve them to the last drop from a built in pour tap without ever having to remove the top from the base. Yes, the tap actually works, and works great! I'm buying more just in case some corporate idiot decides to drop the line. Don't let the low price scare you, the Wavestation is really one of those rare items today that actually work as advertised. Enjoy, and remember to party in moderation, or at least give your car keys to somebody how can! :) 5/5 S. Swartz (Montross, VA) - See all my reviews, November 26, 2009

Don't buy this - get a real blender

I bought this for $20 at Wal-Mart, and after using it for a few weeks, I went back and bought an Oster blender for $25 and I am so much happier. With this Hamilton Beach Wave Station, my smoothies had ice chips, which I could ignore, but what really sent me back to the store was that the way the bottom is attached to the blender, you have to take it apart every time you use it because otherwise the smoothie gets down into the threads of the blender at the bottom and then spoils. Disgusting! Just washing out the blender doesn't get the smoothie out of that area. 2/5 Carol Griffith - See all my reviews, September 1, 2009

    Classic Drinkmaster

I bought this drink mixer because I love to make milk shakes and other kinds of frozen drinks. I did read the reviews first and noticed that there were a lot of negative reviews. I decided to try the mixer anyway, and decided that if it couldn't handle ice cream and the such that I would simply use it for powdered drinks. I received it in the mail yesterday and make a chocolate shake today. I was really shocked by the amount of power that this machine had. I filled the cup about two thirds full and started the machine. At first, I thought that I was on the high setting because of the amount of power. So I tried the next setting. This one actually caused the cup to overflow because of the power. I do not know if they replaced the motor or what Hamilton Beach did, but the machine definately exceeds my expectations. I would highly recommend it! 5/5 blueangel (usa) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Its plastic and not as powerful as the original

A few lines should have been added to the product description: "This unit is made of plastic. It's not as powerful as the original soda shop unit. It's smaller and has less capacity than the real thing. The bottom is not weighted and the unit is inclined to tip over when first turned on with shake ingredients in cup. Can be easily knocked over when inserting the cup into the unit". For the price, it's okay ... it does make a great shake. But the description of "like the original" is far from teh truth. 1/5 William G. Thomas "excellentdriver" (Portsmouth, NH United States) - See all my reviews, February 17, 2001

    Toothpick for a mixer

I was excited about the thought of using a nostalgic chrome mixer for ice cream shakes. Unfortunately, this product has the strength and blending power of a toothpick. The mixer wand is about 1 inch in diameter and made of very cheap plastic. It doesn't mix ice cream worth a dime... This is the first product I've ever had to return to Amazon. Glass makes the difference

The glass container really sets this blender apart. It doesn't stain, it's easier to clean then plastic and just plain looks classier. Also, I've always had trouble with frozen drink mixes (the bottom blends, but the top part never moves down to the bottom). I always thought I didn't do it right. I never have that problem with this blender -- cheers to a well blended margarita! 5/5 E. Refermat - See all my reviews, January 28, 2009

Honest Review For Hamilton Beach 52147H Blender

There are two types of people I feel sorry for. The one type are the people who give this product a negative review because they can't follow some simple instructions, and the other being the people who will be put off buying this blender because of the first. I have been using this device a lot for a while now and the bottom line is that it works great. Just as with anything else, as long as you take care of it properly then it will last a while. The whole thing is extremely easy to put together and take apart. I was able to figure it out with common sense and not even reading the directions the first time I put it together. I later went back and read the instructions to confirm what I had already figured out. I have blended using both the cups and the big blender jar and I am proud to report that it has fully blended all of my fresh AND frozen fruit until totally smooth with no big chunks of fruit. As a lesson to the other negative reviewers here are a few common sense points I have... 5/5 Brad Detommaso "PC Repair Specialist" (Albuquerque, NM) - See all my reviews, June 1, 2009

    Professional Chef Rated EXCELLENT

As with any kitchen appliance... you must know how to properly operate it to give a fair evaluation. I couldn't undertand how people reported having "chunks" that could not blend. Sad to say...I now realize that most of the poor reviews were from people who don't know how to properly make a smoothie...I purchased this blender for a 4th of July outdoor event where I sold smoothies to the public.... I sold 230 ea. (20 oz.) during the day. This machine worked perfectly... blended smooth, powerful, 80 oz. capacity pitcher is a huge bonus for parties but can also blend single 20 oz portions without a problem.BIGGEST ADVANTAGE.....NO AIR GAP !!! Most blenders create an "air bubble" when blending...Some Smoothie machines have a "Wand" that helps you stir while blending, to keep from the Air Gap from happening.... The Twin Blade system creates a smooth distribution of liquid and keeps the mixture moving.... This is a definite advantage over a single blade... 5/5 J. This is the perfect smoothie maker!

I dont know what everyone is complaining about, this is the best dang thing I've purchased in a long time! I use it only for smoothies. I bought it because it has dual blades, dual chambers, separate cups - but you can do 2 cups at a time if you wish. The whole process to make my protein smoothie takes all of 3 minutes. I am 9 1/2 months pregnant, and trust me, if it were difficult to use, I wouldn't use it! The cleanup is amazingly simple. I just rinse the removable blade in hot water and replace. I simply rinse the cups and caps the same way, and it's ready for tomorrow. I make my smoothies with frozen and fresh fruit, juice and protein powder. I think the people who say it doesn't work well dont make smoothies correctly - you need a liquid in order for the ice or frozen pieces to rotate around the blades - this is true for even the very best blenders. If youa re like me and want a smoothie daily, with minimal work, mess or clean up, and only want to use a small bit of counter... 5/5 Liz "L" (Cheshire, CT) - See all my reviews This review is from: Hamilton Beach 52147H Dual Wave Versatile Blender, Silver (Kitchen) I dont know what everyone is complaining about, this is the best dang thing I've purchased in a long time! Not bad for the price

Just purchased this item at Macy's. The price was about 29.00. Used it to make some Margaritas. The Swirling action worked great. No chunks of ice left. Was tempted to spend a lot more, which I usually do on appliances, but the blender only gets limited use. Will see how it works out in the future, but right now the price is right and the performance is fine. 4/5 JC - See all my reviews This review is from: Hamilton Beach 50235 WaveMaker 10-Speed Blender, Black (Kitchen) Just purchased this item at Macy's. smoothie capable

Purchased this blender at Kohl's last week, it was priced higher than the price that's listed here....however I had Kohl's cash that I needed to use. I've been making smoothies every morning since. It seems to be powerful enough to crush the ice or frozen fruit, as I've done both. It's not quiet, but I'm not in the market to buy quiet. Smoothies have been a success and that's the main purpose for the purchase. Choose this model over others because it was 550 watts, my concern was less wattage wouldn't be strong enough. 4/5 polly - See all my reviews This review is from: Hamilton Beach 50235 WaveMaker 10-Speed Blender, Black (Kitchen) Purchased this blender at Kohl's last week, it was priced higher than the price that's listed here....however I had Kohl's cash that I needed to use. Makes Smoothies out of anything

This is the blender Tim Allen would make. It has more power. I think I could probably grind up a lump of wood and it would make a good fiber filled drink. 5/5 William S. Ide "urban mapper" (Wash DC) - See all my reviews, August 26, 2010

Awesome for smoothies and baby food

I purchased this blender after reading reviews for it on a different site. Not only does it chop ice well for smoothies, but it is great at pureeing baby food. It is also easy to clean. This blender is used at least once a day in my house. I love this blender!! 5/5 S. Very Good Blender

I bought this blender about a month ago and it works quite well for it's price range. It cut and dice ices, strawberries, mangoes and other fruits to a nice smooth consistency. You still have to add some liquid in the beginning for it to do it's work but that's true for most blenders. Anyway, the blender does produce an electrical engine smell, but it does subside after prolong use. I would rate the noise level from low to moderate when compared to other blenders. One special thing about this blender is the nozzle at the top of the lid, it helps pour the mixtures very easily without creating drips. It's easy to clean, even without disassembling the lower bottom of the pitcher, which contains the base and blade, because of it's wide shape. Lastly, when I got this there was a noticeable crack on the pitcher, which is made of glass. But it was a small surface v shape crack on the side of the pitcher. Upon close inspection, I didn't bother returning it as I figured it wouldn't cause much... 4/5 Jeff "H" (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great Blender!

This is by far the best blender I've ever owned. I make smoothies on a daily basis, and this blender holds up great. It blends perfectly with no chunks, and I didn't notice the burning smell that some people mentioned. I would highly recommend this product. 5/5 Nat - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) So far so good

We had a Rival immersion which was highly rated for a short time before I burned out the motor making whip cream. I since bought a regular mixer for making whip cream it does a far better job than an immersion blender.I make a lot of cream soups and it is great for that without lugging out the big blender not to mention the clean up, the blender will soon be relegated to the basement as a back up. I like the case, it puts everything in one place and easy to store away. There is a milk shake attachment which is very nice and a whipping attachment, I suppose that would be much better for whip cream. I can see a lot of shakes and smoothies coming this summer with my new toy.Someone mentioned clean up in the dish washer, a little tip for any immersion blender. As soon as I finish with it, I fill a glass or bowl with hot sudsy water and buzz it for a few seconds and then rinse, works great and just wipe off and put away, couldn't be easier.Another... 4/5 Barry Musmon "Barry" (Central maine) - See all my reviews, March 17, 2009

    Only Used 3 Times

I loved this immersion blender until the plastic casing on the immersion blender cracked after only the 3rd time using it. I was making carrot-pumpkin soup and needed to puree the carrots, and did not want to haul out my blender. This was a perfect use for the immersion blender. I've used it before twice on other soups, so I know that I didn't over-use its capacity. My soup turned out wonderfully, but after I rinsed the detachable wand, I noticed soupy-water still trapped inside and saw the 2-inch long crack.I'm disappointed in this product, because I loved the ease of use and clean-up. I'm not sure if I'll keep this and use the other attachments, but now I need to get another immersion blender. 3/5 BookLover "HW" (San Francisco Bay Area) - See all my reviews This review is from: Hamilton Beach 59785 2-Speed Hand Blender with Case, Black (Kitchen) I loved this immersion blender until the plastic casing on the immersion blender cracked after only the 3rd time using it. Leave your mixer in the cupboard!

LOVE this item! I also love my KitchenAid mixer and blender, but with the Hamilton Beach hand blender, I don't have to drag out the heavy big guns to make whipped cream, whip egg whites for meringue or make smoothies. I keep it handy in the utensil crock on the counter, use it, and pop the attachments in the dishwasher. Quick and easy! 4/5 My two cents (Minnesota, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Hamilton Beach 59785 2-Speed Hand Blender with Case, Black (Kitchen) LOVE this item!
