Great replacement piece, save big bucks

My wife's aunt broke the piece by pushing down on the blender while it was running. This may be true on cheaper unit that may be unstable but this was a bad thing to do on the KitchenAid unit. It ended up breaking a few teeth on the coupling. I thought I'd have to dump the unit and buy a new one but some research pointed me to this replacement unit. Replacing it was a piece of cake. Take a flathead screw driver and point it at a 45 degree angle against one of the left over teeth on the angled side and hit the screw driver sharply with a hammer. You need to do it such that when it hit, the piece will turn "clockwise" which will unscrew it. It's a reverse thread so it's NOT lefty-loosy and righty-tighty but the opposite. One or two hits will loosen the coupling so you can unscrew it and screw on the new one. Presto!!! $10 fix vs $100 new unit. 5/5 H. Life saver

We called Kitchen Aid because this was the second blender that this part failed on. Of course it was out of warranty so they told us we would need to send in the unit for repairs. We found the part just popped off so my husband started hunting the part. We bought 2 and the repair took less than a minute. More people need to know about this. 5/5 E. D. How to get the old one off

Like another reviewer said, just unplug the blender, use a long screwdriver to stop the motor from turning, and then unscrew the coupling (in the opposite direction than you normally would). Took about 5 minutes... just had to find the right place to put the screwdriver to stop the motor. 4/5 J. Shaha - See all my reviews, March 27, 2008

    K4SSWH Owners beware

This item works fine, good quality, etc. HOWEVER, if you are an owner of the K4SSWH 4.5 qt bowl lift model purchased at Wal-Mart's Black Friday sales, this WILL NOT WORK with your mixer! The model number of the mixer at Wal Mart is contrived, that model is actually a rebadged discontinued K5 Classic according to KitchenAid. You will need to purchase accessories intended for a K5, NOT a K45 (as one would assume). Seems a bit flimsier than original whip

We just bought this as a replacement for one that came with the mixer almost 7 years ago. This is the right size for my model. I'm sure it will work fine (I only tried it in a dry bowl), but I'm having trouble with the seemingly lesser quality of this replacement whip. My original whip was 100% stainless steel and weighs 4.5oz. This new version has a connector socket that feels hollow, perhaps? It weighs only 3.3oz.So if you are purchasing a replacement for an older whip, don't expect an exact replica (like I did). I'm trusting that this will work as well as my older one. 4/5 RisCracker "riscracker" (San Jose, CA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: KitchenAid K45WW Wire Whip Replacement for KSM15, KSM110, KSM103, KSM75, KN15, K45, and KSM90 Stand Mixer (Kitchen) We just bought this as a replacement for one that came with the mixer almost 7 years ago. aluminum gets pocked

This wire whip is a disappointment because it's not made out of stainless steel, as was the original. It's some form of aluminum which gets pocked when it soaks in dishwater. This happened the first time I handwashed it! Don't dare put it in the dishwasher. 2/5 B. J. Caldon - See all my reviews, April 2, 2009

    Cuisinart Vs. KitchenAid Mini Choppers

When I starting searching for a mini-chopper I was surprised by the huge rating difference between the Cuisinart DLC2 and the KitchenAid KFC3100, so I bought both and did a side-by-side comparison. The only explanation I can give for the ratings difference is that Cuisinart buyers must have higher expectations. For most operations they have nearly identical performance and for some operations the Cuisinart is the clear winner.Onions: Many Cuisinart reviewers panned its performance here, claiming it made onion purée, but most KitchenAid reviewers praised its onion chopping ability. I found almost no difference between the two. Maybe its an issue with the instructions - for chopped onions you must use a few short pulses. A few more pulses and you get minced onion - more than this and both give you onion puree. I wouldn't say either is great at chopping onions, but both are equally mediocre.I also tested chopping nuts, and making breadcrumbs with... 4/5 S. I love my MiniPrep, it's a great help!

I got this as a gift from my boyfriend and have been using it regularly. This is one of those things that you don't think you ever need (and I did give this topic extensive thought), but once you have it, you would really miss it.The good is that it is really good at FINELY chopping things. The bad is that it is really good at FINELY chopping things.Keeping this in mind, I've learnt when to use and when to just use my knife. For instance, when chopping walnuts for banana bread, I put a cup of walnuts into the processor and hit "Chop" - it immediately chopped the walnuts into good sized chunks, but there was a couple of walnuts that didn't get cut yet, so I hit the "Chop" button a couple more times, but that turned the rest of the walnuts to a very small almost "powder" consistency. I tried it again, with about the same results. I guess I could try putting in less walnuts at a time, but then that would defeat the purpose of "less work" since I'd... 4/5 Vyshtia (CA, USA) - See all my reviews, November 28, 2005

so... you want a food processor?

I have the Mini-Prep and I have the big guy version, but I use the MP 10x as much. It does everything! Want chopped garlic? peel a couple heads, add 2-3T of olive oil and about a 1/4-1/2tsp. of salt. It keeps in a jar in the fridge and tastes a heck of a lot better than the store kind! Fresh herbs, nuts, peppers without burning hands...it's great! When I'm done, I just rinse it out. This is my favorite appliance after my blender, and if this made smoothies and margaritas, it would be my favorite! 5/5 S. Rasco (Austin, TX) - See all my reviews, July 14, 2002

    Shred away

This is a great shredder. Absolutly the best out there. It is a lousy slicer. Take the bad with the good I guess. My wife and I shred lots of cheese because pre-shredded cheese has chemicals added that change the taste and chemical properties of the cheese. This attachment works wonderfully for cheese.A note on disassembly. Some people have difficulty getting the cone off the plug (if you own one you know what I'm talking about). The very easy way to remedy this is to remove the cone from the plug before removing the plug from the machine. If you follow this one rule you will have very easy setup and take down. 4/5 Joel Schopp (Austin, TXStates) - See all my reviews, September 23, 2004

    Four and a half stars

This attachment saves time, elbow grease, and quite possibly your knuckles! It makes quick work of chopping nuts or shredding cheese, carrots, etc. Clean up could not be easier - simply disassemble the attachment's 3 pieces and pop them in the dishwasher. I do recommend keeping a pair of pliers handy because after use, the steel shredder cup is difficult to detach from the center shaft. Although this attachment is awkward to store due to its shape, its benefits far outweigh this minor drawback. I recommend this as an essential additional purchase for anyone who owns a KitchenAid stand mixer. 4/5 Scott Pointon "Former Marine, Librarian, Wood... Expect it to last a year, then break.

This is my third pitcher for my since I bought it two years ago. It's a great blender (albeit loud), and if you consider there is a $30/yr 'fee' to keep replacing the pitcher it's a pretty decent deal. These pitchers are great while they last, but they will break. Just expect it to happen and you won't be disappointed :) 4/5 David M. Robbins "Sweet" (Sherman Oaks, CA) - See all my reviews, April 18, 2012

The best Christmas present I've gotten in years

I've long been interested in having a really great blender. Something that will crush ice, puree soup, make smoothies for breakfast or snacks and of course blend up a nice margarita. :)I looked at dozens of blenders, and finally chose the Waring bar model in stainless based on design, other reviews and power. The metal jar was also very important. I have always been afraid of breaking the glass on other blenders I have owned, and in fact have broken one. This blender is just lovely. It is loud, but because it is so powerful and simply *works*, you don't have to run it very long anyway. There are no plastic buttons to get sticky and goopy. One *metal* switch and two settings are plenty.Rather than the "turn to lock the jar in" method that most blenders use, this one drops in. You can't do it "wrong" -- it just won't go in if you have the canister turned the wrong way. The jar, which does need to be held steady with one hand, never kicks or bucks when... 5/5 R. A. Waring Blender

This blender has been completely satisfying. It crushes ice consistantly and thoroughly. My smoothies alwalys come out like silk. I use the blender several times a day, and the motor hasn't burned out. The steel adds a unique touch while leaving me fearless of broken glass. And, the warrenty that comes with it is a comfort in the event I have problems with the unit. I highly recommend this product for it's quality, distinctiveness, and dependability. 5/5 Shawntell R. Quiet dishwasher

This is the quietest dishwasher I have ever owned. We can run it while watching TV without any disturbance (our kitchen is open to the living room). It also gets dishes very clean. However, the drain pump went out after only 7 months of daily use. The warranty covered it but I was without a dishwasher for 2 weeks (by the time a service call was set up, then the part had to be ordered & took another week to come it). I am concerned that pump will go out again & the warranty will be expired.I am not a fan of the 3rd shelf for small items. Tall glasses do not fit in the 2nd shelf because of that extra shelf & we rarely use that 3rd shelf. I finally pulled it out & keep it out. Love The Upper Utensil Tray

Our first d/w was a Maytag that cleaned very well. Unfortunately, in 2 years time we had to replace the latch handle twice, it was recalled because of a potential fire, and ultimately, the tub warped and we replaced it with this Kitchenaid.Having done extensive research, there is no one d/w that everyone loves. That being said, Kitchenaid comes up as one of the brands that most people prefer. Why not go with a middle level Kitchenaid? Again, all the research I turned up said that it was necessary to go with the higher end in order to get better quality. The higher end uses a different drying and washing process than the mid-range.Another consideration was that only the top two models have the third tray for utensils. Both my husband and the appliance salesmen minimized the importance of this feature. Having now had the d/w for a month, it's one of my favorite features. Because of food allergies and because we homeschool, we run our d/w four times a day... 5/5 Cuckoomamma - See all my reviews This review is from: Kitchenaid KUDE70FXSS Superba Series EQ Dishwasher Our first d/w was a Maytag that cleaned very well. ridiculously amazing

I had done a lot of reading about dishwashers when I decided to replace my Frigidaire Professional that came with my house. The Frigidaire never seemed to clean as we thought it should.Long story short this is an amazing dishwasher. my mom cooked some lasagna we left the dish and merely put it into the dishwasher in front of the pot scrubbers. from caked and baked on sauce to perfectly clean.
