    Search for the holy blender...

I have been looking for a blender for a few weeks now. We have started making smoothies at home and burned up our old one. Our girls like the "Chocolate Elvis" recipe from the local smoothie place which contains peanutbutter, bananas, yogurt, ice, and milk. I guess this is really hard on blenders. I bought one at Target 2 weeks ago that had "700 watts peak power" on the box. It died in 2 days. The power spec on the bottom of the blender said 450 watts. I think that is false advertisement. I have seen this on 2 different blenders now.I have been leery of buying any blender with the little plastic teeth couplers because of all the bad reviews here on Amazon. I also wanted to stay away from anything with only 450 watts.I was in another store and saw this blender. It has a new design for where the blades couple with the motor. They Redesigned The Container (carafe)!!!

We bought this Kitchenaid blender over a year ago, and after several months the container started to leak. The leak was small, and we put up with it for awhile. We finally got tired of the mess, however, and called the factory. We were told that the container had been redesigned, and they would send us a new one immediately even though our warranty had expired. When we got the new one we could see that it had indeed been redesigned, and have used it for some time now, and NO LEAKS. A leak proof container plus the other great features of this blender now warrant a definite five stars.3/24/12 update. Our blender is now five years old, is used every day, and has been problem free since they replaced the container in 2008. 5/5 Robert Derenthal "bucherwurm" (California United States) - See all my reviews, May 25, 2008

Do Yourself a Favor and Buy this Fantasitc Blender

My husband and I make smoothies almost every single night (as in, 6-7 nights/week), so we're really hard on our blenders. We have been through 4 blenders in the last 3 years alone. We started with a cheap Oster blender, but quickly realized that it was pretty much useless for the thick smoothies we like to make. Next, I bought the Back to Basics Smoothie Elite, which was great for as long as it held up, but as it turned out, that was only 6 months. So, we upgraded to the Back to Basics Smoothie Professional, which was great until I dropped the glass jar into the sink and broke it, only to find that you couldn't buy a new one ANYWHERE so my $120 blender was now worthless. After all this, I decided to stop fooling around and buy a Kitchenaid. This blender has all the power you need (way more power than any of the first 3 blenders I bought; both the smoothie blenders came with a stir stick, but such a thing isn't even necessary when you have the power of this Kitchenaid),... 5/5 AG Pym (Bookland) - See all my reviews This review is from: KitchenAid KSB560MC 5-Speed Blender with Polycarbonate Jar, Metallic Chrome (Kitchen) My husband and I make smoothies almost every single night (as in, 6-7 nights/week), so we're really hard on our blenders. Expect it to last a year, then break.

This is my third pitcher for my since I bought it two years ago. It's a great blender (albeit loud), and if you consider there is a $30/yr 'fee' to keep replacing the pitcher it's a pretty decent deal. These pitchers are great while they last, but they will break. Just expect it to happen and you won't be disappointed :) 4/5 David M. Robbins "Sweet" (Sherman Oaks, CA) - See all my reviews, April 18, 2012

    The Blender with Intelligence

I have owned a lot of blenders and this one is very impressive. I was tempted to give it 4 stars as it is not the best blender I have ever owned. That distinction goes to the Vita-Mix which has a nuclear reactor for a base, sounds like a Harley and cost as much as a microwave but if you need a blender that can crush anything and make flour and HOT soup....well....but back to the KitchenAid.First it looks great. As a home chef, having a sleek modern looking kitchen is important. Second it is easy to clean... I will never own a push button (i.e. old Oster-type) blender again. Nor one with a multi piece jar. One leak can and has ruined an evening or party, as you run to grab paper towel and dish clothes to control the margarita or soup that is running across your counter and down your cabinets. Then the fun of cleaning your blender nooks begin....grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.Now the really impressive part. I have owned a Waring for years. Everyone always raves about... 5/5 D. Top-Notch Blender

This is an excellent, high-quality blender. We replaced an inexpensive Oster with it and like this KitchenAid much, much more. Things I really like:1) Power - this blender whips through hard-frozen fruit like nothing is there for wonderful smoothies.2) Smooth, one piece control panel - makes for super-easy clean-up as there are no cracks or crevices to trap spills. Yet, the buttons behind the panel still have a nice tactile click response so you know you pressed one.3) Brushed nickel finish - very attractive on your counter.4) Polycarbonate jar - this worried me when considering this purchase as our old blender had a nice, thick glass jar. But, after using this blender for 3 months, I like this jar better. It is thick, yet lightweight, and hasn't scratched (although I only use rubber or silicone spatulas inside any way).5) One piece blades & jar - our old blender had a screw-off base, resulting in 4 parts for clean-up - the base, the blade... 5/5 Tom Tracy (Northern GA, United States) - See all my reviews, March 11, 2008

    Monster ice crusher

If you're into crushed ice and smoothie type drinks, this is easily the best one I've found. It reduces ice cubes to a smooth slush in just seconds. The "crush ice" mode pulses on and off to crush the ice quickly and few more seconds at a higher speed smooths it out and adds some air volume. It also looks very sleek, so won't mind leaving it out on your bar or in the kitchen. 5/5 Jason Austin (Virginia Beach, VA USA) - See all my reviews, July 2, 2007

    Top Rate Blender

We were looking for a blender that would make smoothies on a daily basis, last longer than 90-days and not cost us a fortune. This blender easily crushes the ice and blends the frozen fruits into a delicious smoothie without problem. It does not over heat or stall and the 4-level blade prevents air pockets common with other blenders. It is somewhat loud but that is to be expected from a motor powerful enough to easily crush ice in seconds. We recommend this blender to anyone looking for quality at a reasonable price. 5/5 Texas Net Surfer - See all my reviews This review is from: KitchenAid KSB565SM 5-Speed Blender with 48-Ounce Glass Jar, Silver Metallic (Kitchen) We were looking for a blender that would make smoothies on a daily basis, last longer than 90-days and not cost us a fortune. No complain!!

Before I bought this I checked many reviews. I chose the glass jar over polycarbonate one that would be nice, if there in no leaking possibility.Cleaning and assembling are easier than other brand that I owned before since it is built well.Primary purpose of this is making smoothy and ice crush. This is doing better than I expected. Especially, for ice crushing, it does crush and pulse and it is very effective. I recommend it with 5 star. 5/5 JS "JS" (California,USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: KitchenAid 5-Speed Blender with Glass Blender Jar, Empire Red (Kitchen) Before I bought this I checked many reviews. Bad design of base

We saw this same comment when we were reviewing to purchase. Bought it anyhow. The flimsy plastic base broke where it attached to the motor. Don't buy this product. This is a major design flaw for what would otherwise be a pretty heavy duty blender. 1/5 Mark - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great blender! Worth every penny!

Recently my husband and I upgraded most of our small appliances and cookware. We opted for the Kitchenaid mixer and Calphalon cookware, and decided to skimp on the blender, figuring a blender is a blender and what difference would it make?It makes a big difference. We bought an Osterizer for dirt cheap at a local kitchen supply store and were not impressed with its capabilities. At this point I thought about buying the Kitchenaid but wanted to wait a little while, since the price was rather more than we wanted to pay for a blender.Around Christmas my husband and I visited back home. His grandparents have the Kitchenaid 5-speed blender. We were quite impressed with its capabilities in making a great mudslide; although there were still tiny ice chips in the drink, the blender did quite well in mixing everything very smoothly and with a minimum amount of noise (for a blender anyway).I was able to find one of these wonderful blenders refurbished through Amazon... 5/5 K. Good Luck or Good Product?

After reading most of the reviews for this blender I decided to add my own. I've owned this blender for over a year now and it works beautifully. I use it mainly for making smoothies, usually for myself, but often for family and friends when visiting. If its for 1 cup or a full container it does a great job. I put 1/2 cup water or milk, ice, frozen strawberries, sometimes bananas, apples and/or pineapple into the recipes. This blender makes them into a very smooth drink in quick time and no chucks of ice or fruit in the bottom. I put everything into the container and just let it run, it pulls everything through the blades on it's own. I've seen lots of these reviews showing theirs don't do the job, as my title states I either got lucky or it really is an excellent product and the ones that did the other reviews have had bad luck. I do recommend this blender (mine is the onyx black with glass container). 5/5 Rose (Rancho Cucamonga, CA USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: KitchenAid KSB5WH 5-Speed Blender, White (Kitchen) After reading most of the reviews for this blender I decided to add my own. Looks good, but of limited use

If you see this blender in a store, you'll be impressed. It has a very powerful motor. It's heavy -- solid steel, thick glass. Even the plastic top is rugged. It looks like it'll last a lifetime. But depending on what you want it for, it may be a waste of money, because it is unsuitable for many common blending tasks. Like many other people have reported, I noticed that it left large chunks of food in the bottom, even after running a long time. I examined it closely and discovered the cause:The cutting blades are NOT sharp. In fact, they're quite dull. There is no way you could cut yourself while cleaning this. This seems to be intentional. When I emailed customer service, I was told, "Please note that the blade does not have sharp edging, as the blunt blades are designed to maximize superior ice crushing ability." Nice Blender - A Little Expensive

I gave this to my wife for Christmas and she finely used it today. My first impressions is that it is quiet and powerful as a blender - she made a squash soup for dinner. I was impressed with the low noise level of the blender as well as the relatively short blending time for the soup. The blender is heavy with a quality feel and I like the heavy glass blending jar. A note of caution the blades are very sharp so be careful when cleaning. We have not yet played with the heating capability but the design looks very solid so I am sure it will stand-up well. The accessories that came with this blender were of very high quality. My wife has had the same measuring cups and spoons for 20 years and they needed replacement and she was impressed with these enough that I think she may have considered these the best part of the package :-) so don't worry that they are just some cheap junk with no value - they are not.The only negative I see so far is this is an... 4/5 jaldeborgh "jaldeborgh" (Boxford, MA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
