Great Choice over the DM1000 and DM2000

I picked up the DM0500 model after some extensive shopping around for one of the Margaritaville blenders. This one doesn't hold as much ice as the others but it holds enough for one pitcher worth of drinks. It also doesn't have the fancy buttons that the others have that denote "mudslide," "daiquiri," or "Margarita"(I've heard there is little difference in these settings). That is the main difference between this model and the others. It had the standard shave only/ blend only switch and a start button( more on that later). The blender itself is very nice it has some great artistic accents like behind the pitcher on the machine is a metal engraving of a palm tree and a sea plane. The construction is easy and it works right out of the box. All you have to do is attach the ice hopper and you're finished. Some of the negatives though are that the metal ice chute (that's what I call it) shifts up and down so that it fits perfectly and tightly to the... 5/5 J. Awesome blender!

I bought this for my father for Christmas. He loves making margaritas, but could never get his blender to shave the ice well. This blender shaves ice perfectly and comes with some great drink recipes. I have the larger version that I also use for smoothies, but this size is nice for every day use if you have limited counter space, or as a gift. 5/5 Patricia P. Perfect Magarita Consistency

Made the huge mistake of buying the Margarator first. What a piece of junk. We returned that to the store and we were very hesitant to sink even more money into this, but we really wanted something to make frozen drinks. I am so glad we took the plunge and bought this machine. PERFECT SHAVED ICED CONSISTENCY - JUST LIKE IN THE RESTAURANTS! Very easy to make and very fast. Make sure you follow the recipe ratio in the directions. The recipe calls for 2 to 1 ratio. I was used to following the recipe on the back of most Magarita mixes that are 3 to 1 (Mixer to Alcohol). 5/5 Paxton in AZ (Surprise, AZ) - See all my reviews This review is from: Margaritaville DM0500 Bahamas 36-Ounce Frozen-Concoction Maker (Kitchen) Made the huge mistake of buying the Margarator first. Must have gadget!

As an engineer and gadget guy I finally got the big Kahuna Margaritaville model. When you follow the directions - ie keep the right amount of liquid per the number of drinks - it is fantastic. The 12OZ per drink measurement is dead on.The different drinks it makes - Rita's, Daq's, Colada's and Smoothies are set on one knob. This basically tells the blender how much blending to do and when to shave the ice. The Rita's assume all liquid ingredients. The Daq's assume frozen fruit and the Smoothies assume fresh fruit so the timing and frequecy of the blending is based on that. For example the blender doesn't start on a Rita until the ice shaving is well underway while a Daq starts blending well before the shaving starts. The machine breaks down nicely for easy cleaning and the shaving blade is easy to replace if it comes to that. It's a pretty beefy blade so I am not worried.Do note that the machine is tall and will not fit under a cabinet... 5/5 TPM "TPM" - See all my reviews This review is from: Margaritaville DM2000 Premium Frozen Concoction Maker (Kitchen) As an engineer and gadget guy I finally got the big Kahuna Margaritaville model. When you follow the directions - ie keep the right amount of liquid per the number of drinks - it is fantastic. Elminates several other machines in your kitchen

We love our Margaritaville machine! It has eliminated two blenders and a snow cone maker in our own kitchen. No telling what more. My husband loves a good 'rita, and I like to drink health shakes in the morning for breakfast. This machine is perfect for our needs. You can also just shave a little ice to make a snowy soft snow cone for the kids or enlist the blender element solely. It's a large machine, so if a blender is a daily necessity in your house and you have plenty of counter space to accomodate it, then this is great for you. Now, this is not going to chop frozen strawberries w/o compromising the integrity, per the saleswoman's instructions at the Williams-Sonoma that we bought it at. By the way, we bought ours there for the same price, but also have the Williams-Sonoma guarantee that covers the Margaritaville for life. If you have a WS in your area, I would suggest this route. If not, at least Amazon has their 1 yr. warranty on it. 5/5 Jessica Reynolds (Round Rock, Texas United States) - See all my reviews, August 9, 2007

    not overly pleased

First, I would rate it a 3.5I purchased this item as I was tired of low quality drink mixers... I purchased the FIJI as it was the newest model out. It has a larger Ice holder and different settings for margaritas, daquiries, mudslides, and smoothies. The machine is powerful and seemingly high quality. I feel it will last a long time. It does take some practice getting your recipies correct. Maybe its just me, but I also can NOT differentiate the drinks from the four different settings. A drink in the mudslide setting has the same texture as a Margarita....and etc. So I felt that was a waste for me. With the larger Ice Hopper thats nice, but easily available for the Key West version. I would rather have extra blending Jars as they are small and what I go through the most. The Key west seems to have the best matching ice reservoir for the blending jar. The drip through water catcher is nice... but very difficultt to clean. Its too narrow to wash by hand, you need to use a... 3/5 J. Bellso (Central New York) - See all my reviews, June 22, 2008

    I was skeptical...

I distinctly remember making fun of the Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker when I first saw it advertised in the Front Gate catalog. ("Who's going to buy a three hundred dollar blender on steroids?!? Hah-hah-hah...") Imagine my horror when my wife announced that she wanted one for her birthday. Looks like that "who" was going to be "me".The vast majority of positive reviews on Amazon calmed my fears a bit and I ordered one up. As usual, Amazon delivered quickly and it was unpacked and setup in a couple minutes.Exactly true to its claims, the thing actually makes perfect consistency margaritas and any other frozen drinks you can think of. I think I like it more than my wife. It has a "power tool" vibe to it that guys appreciate. Spinning blades and high speed motors. What could possibly go wrong? There's a few things/tips to be aware of:1) It's BIG. It just barely clears the front of our kitchen cabinets and is too tall to go... 5/5 Clay N. Awesome

When I saw this item for sale I just had to buy one for my husband as a college graduation gift. Margaritas are his favorite drink and he just couldn't duplicate that restaurant quality consistancy with a blender. This Margaritaville machine actually shaves the ice instead of chopping it like a blender would do. This creates that nice smooth consistancy of the drink instead of a lumpy texture. It's very easy to operate. All you do is fill the ice chamber with ice, pour the correct amout of your drink mixture into the pitcher (it will make 1-3 servings at a time), set the machine to how many servings you would like, then turn it on. The machine automatically measure, shaves and blend the perfect amount of ice according to the amount of servings. No more watery drinks. When my kids have friends over for pool parties they love me to make them alcohol free strawberry daiquiris or pina coladas or fruit smoothies. One nice feature about this machine is that... 5/5 westielove (PA , United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Margaritaville DM1000 Frozen Concoction Maker (Kitchen) When I saw this item for sale I just had to buy one for my husband as a college graduation gift. This blender works GREAT

I have been looking for a blender that would make perfect margaritas or daiquiris and this is the one. It makes 1, 2 or 3 drinks at a time, and perfect everytime, as long as you read and follow the directions and put in the right amount of mix. Easy to use and clean. I had been looking for an Island Oasis Blender on Ebay, but the Margaritaville Frozen Conconction Maker is so much smaller and priced well below what a used Island Oasis was going for. This is perfect for travel and I plan on taking it to many Jimmy Buffett concerts. The only downside is the ice storage on top, they need to have an attachment that will hold a bag of ice so you don't have to refill as often. 5/5 Bradley M. Works well but not the fit and finish expected

The unit works as advertised but the fit and finish is not what the marketing leads you to believe. The entire unit is plastic including the jars. I sent an email to the manufacturer voicing my disappointment and they said they can't control the descrptions placed on third party web sites. Well, the description is the same on their web site. For the price, I was expecting this unit to be built like my Kitchen-aid mixer, but it's not... it's cheap. That being said, I decided to keep it because it does make three different frozen drinks all at once and it is fun to watch. It is a great conversation piece, just don't mention what you paid for it or your guests will think you lost your marbles paying that amount for a hunk of plastic.I'm giving the unit three stars. I subtracted one for the build quality and one for manufactures customer service.UPDATE 12/2/2010: I figured since I was critical in my review I should update this since I've had it for... 3/5 Steve Jensen (Guthrie, Oklahoma) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great product!

Ok, so like almost everyone who is reading this review...my first thought was "Why am I going to pay THAT kind of money for a hyped up blender!" I can sum it up in two words...snowball fight!Seriously though, I took the plunge and am not upset that I did. This makes a great addition to any party, whether it's a couple of friends, or a crowd. And nobody's walking around chewing on ice chips from their blender drinks! My kids love the shaved ice to play with, and it makes great snowcones/slushies.Setup is easy, cleanup is easy (seriously), the only problem that I have found so far is creating the right recipes for the drinks. It comes with some standards...but I like to play!Originally, my wife wanted to get a professional maker, but we found they were thousands of dollars. After buying the DM3000, we could care less about the profession model anymore...this one makes 3 different drinks in a cycle, is fun to watch, and easier to maintain! It is... 5/5 Jeffrey Grace - See all my reviews, May 14, 2009

    Great bag at reasonable price

I was very hesitant about spending this much money on an accessory. After receiving it, I know now why they charge what they do. The bag is made similarly to a quality backpack, with the same types/quantity of material and zippers. Now I can take the machine off the counter and store it somewhere during the winter months when it doesn't get used as much. We used it with the Figi machine, and it works great. 5/5 Jason L. A must have if you own a Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker

The bag is exactly as described. Definitely worth the 30 or so dollars. It's very sturdy and perfect for the storage of my Bahamas Frozen Concoction maker. I needed this because I have very little counter space and needed to store my machine when not in use; and trying to put it back in the box was a pain. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I kind of wish it was more of a case with hard sides instead of just a heavily padded bag, so that it would protect from moderate impact and not just scratches and dust. Nevertheless, I recommend this if you own any of the Margaritaville models that will fit inside. 4/5 Kysten "Kysten" (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) A product you never knew you needed

I had never heard of such a device as the Chillin' Pour and likely would not have bought one before I was introduced to it and now I love the idea. My circle of friends are big fans of Jimmy Buffet and his songs. We get together often for dinner parties, pool parties or just to talk and we have a nice selection of appetizers and adult beverages. The Chillin' Pour is the perfect thing to create fun party drinks for the whole gang and just large enough for our group to sample a few.Unfortunately the first time I plugged it in my margaritas did not change temperature after chillin' for over 5 hours. I wrote an email to the manufacturer explaining what happened and asking for advice. They acknowledged my email within a day from then gave me EXCELLENT customer service to resolve the problem. So how do I like it? I love it. There are certain mixed drinks that don't do well with ice. For me those are the best to make in the Chillin' Pour. Things like Lemon... 5/5 PhotoGraphics (Arizona) - See all my reviews, July 14, 2011

    Nifty, Non-essential Fun

A minimalist explanation of this product is that it cools your drinks-- supercools them. Does it make drinks? No-- it's not a blender. You can pour in pre-blended drinks and they'll come out super-chilled, but it takes some time. Same with liquors: we poured in most of a bottle of good tequila and waited awhile-- several hours to reach the minimum temperature-- and had some nice shots, maybe the coldest I've enjoyed. It's a fun product, but not for everyone. A good blender and some ice will meet most of your needs for less dough: it's also easier to clean, faster, and better for large quantities of drinks for medium-size to large parties. That said, there may be a place at your home bar for this clever gadget. As a dispenser of chilled shots for a small party, it's ideal. 3/5 Chris Ward (Costa Rica) - See all my reviews, July 26, 2011

Great idea just lacks in the volume department!

OK, so I bought this to chill my Tequilla for a New Years Party. I thought this was cool, but come to find out it only chills 25 oz. at a time... don't know about you, but my friend & I (about 15 of us) all do shots of Tequilla, and this product will yield less than two per person!2 Hours to cool, 4 hours to 15 degrees... ok, I can work with that, but when it only takes 25 oz of liquid, at a party, you will have a problem! Lots of mess to clean up when I can put my bottles in the freezer just as easily!Sorry, but I am sending this back. Now give me one of these that holds 1.75 litre of liquor and I am sold. An Expensive Bells and Whistles Ice-Coater...

The Margaritaville Mixed Drink Machine is an expensive little bit of fun. At the moment the Mrs. And I can think of no real competitor... if you're looking for a machine that will act as a mini-bartender and dispense a variety of mixed drinks, this is the machine. There is a definite limited-duration "wow" factor for the MMDM once set up - and the set-up is quite easy, as is the clean-up for a device with so many parts. In addition to ease of setup and cleaning the machine seems pretty sturdy - plastic parts are mixed with metal ones, but there isn't a "cheap, flimsy" feeling. There are four tanks that are loaded on top of the machine: Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice, Sour Mix, and your choice of Tequila, Rum or Vodka. After you've correctly loaded the machine and punched the button choosing the liquor of choice the machine gives a cheer (really) and tells you "Fins Up!" Then the show starts. There is a dial you turn to choose one of the 16 drinks that can be... 4/5 Mark J. Fowler "Let's Play Two!" (Jacksonville, Florida) - See all my reviews, November 28, 2011

    Love it!!!!!!!!

This is our 2nd Margaritaville machine, we absolutely love our 1st machine the Tahiti DM3000. We decided to invest in the mixed drink maker because our 1st machine was such a hit at parties. The "I feel lucky" button is sooo much fun, everyone fights to make me a drink. Just a warning drunken roulette is a great time that night but mornings are a little rough. I highly recommend this machine, we have a few friends already saving up for one. Side note: Amazon.com will ship to Canada. 5/5 Neeto - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Perfect accessory for making margaritas

This is the perfect accessory when making margaritas. I actually leave the salt in the tray using the cover which allows me to use the salt over again. The small size of the tray, cutting board for limes & cover works just right. There is no mess on the shelf when putting the salt rim on the margarita glasses. I would recommend this to everyone as it is just the right size, very convenient to use and priced right. 5/5 MsNinaJ2 "CA animal lover" (North Highlands, CA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) so-so

You're better off buying the cheaper version at wallmart. This one was a little akward to use. I do, however, LOVE, love love my new margaritaville machine. It absolutely rocks. 2/5 zackandkaties mom - See all my reviews This review is from: Margaritaville AD2000 Salt Rimmer and Lime Serving Set (Kitchen) You're better off buying the cheaper version at wallmart. As advertised...it does what it is suppose to do.

The rimmer and serving set is the perfect accent to the Margaritaville Machine. Constructed of heavy plastic, it can withstand the typical mishaps that accompany prolonged usage of the machine. The cutting board is ideal and a nice touch. 5/5 Margep (NC) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Sturdy and pretty

I have bought Tervis tumblers for years. Different sizes too.The advantage of these glasses is that they don't sweat and they keep your drinks cold, and they don't break easily, and they are dishwasher proof. I appreciate the wide selection of designs and enjoy buying different patterns. They arrive quickly and are well packaged. 5/5 Mare Hovan (Sun City West, AZ) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) The machine is great however it stated that it came with a carrying case and it did not come with one!! We were highly disappointed as that is why we choose this one.
