    4th time's the charm

I've burned through 3 other brands of blenders -- each time the plastic "spinner" in the motor base (which mates to a plastic spinner in the pitcher's base that turns the blade) broke. Finally we decided to try out the Oster "Classic" because it uses a metal shaft that fits directly into the pitcher's base to turn the blades rather than the plastic disks that all the newer blender designs seem to use. That does the trick. I make a lot of fruit smoothies using frozen fruit -- which can be pretty hard on blenders -- but so far the Oster Classic has been up to the task. I highly recommend it! 5/5 Melissa (NY, NY USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Oster 4093 Classic Beehive Blender, Silver (Kitchen) I've burned through 3 other brands of blenders -- each time the plastic "spinner" in the motor base (which mates to a plastic spinner in the pitcher's base that turns the blade) broke. Simple does it best

We bought this blender after a horrid experience with some Cuisianart mulit-speed blender that turned out to be a piece of ... Originally I was attracted to all the bells and whistles, but after all that leaked on the first pouring, I realized we had a problem, Houston. After cruising the ratings here, we bought the basic, two-speed (read: go and pulse) GORGEOUS chrome beehive blender. Somehow we got the one that had the mini-jar for dressings, the food processor, and milkshake blade with chrome cannister, all for less than the Cuisinart Multi-Function Mistake. :)This thing kicks. I've made dressings in it, and it was done with ease and they were blended well. Most importantly, I've made several batches of adult drinks involving ice, and as long as you add the ice a few cubes at a time, it turns out perfectly smooth (no ice chips hitting your teeth as you tip the glass).I LOVE OUR OSTERIZER BEEHIVE BLENDER!!!! Simple is really all you need in a blender. Great, but careful when you wash it

This is my third blender in the past 3 years. First one of this brand\model. I've owned this one for 2 years now. I make a smoothie every morning for breakfast. I don't put ice in my smoothie, but I do use frozen fruit and this blender blends up my milk and protein powder and flax seed and fruit in just under 20 seconds. Sometimes less if I use small fruits like blueberries.I really like this blender for the price and the quality of the components. It only has 3 settings. 1)off 2)regular on 3)high on. I only use the off and the regular on setting. What I don't like is washing it. Since I use this item daily, I like to just rinse it out and put the lid with the little top thingie in the top rack of the dishwasher and the pitcher with the glass, rubber seal, blade, and plastic bottom upside down on the lower rack of the dishwasher. Well if I don't remove the pitcher as soon as the washer is finished, the parts start to rust. Put my Kitchen Aid to shame!

It's sweet! Feels a bit cheap in the controls, plastic buttons but who cares. The jar, sharp blades, lid are all exactly like my parents Osterizer they got for their wedding in the 60's (which is still going strong). I make smoothie-whey protein shakes everyday (juices, yoghurt, apple sauce, whey protein, ice cubes, frozen strawberries-blackberries-blueberries, flax seed) all this stuff fills it to the top and the Oster made short work of it. Ten seconds or less. I think I kept it running longer just because I was used to my Kitchen Aid blender that I ran at multiple speeds plus pulse and still had chunks left over.Anyway, it's cheap, it's basic, it works better than high dollar blenders. I blend daily, I'm totally happy. 'nuff said. 5/5 zac thomas (Asheville, NC) - See all my reviews, September 11, 2010

    Oarwe blender really works.

Purchased this to replace a Procter Silex blender I just bought that does nothing. The Osster blender will take ice cubes and make it as fine as snow. Makes smoothies that are smooth. Bought this on Consumer Reports best buy rating, and it is great. 5/5 G. Speck (Connecticut) - See all my reviews, September 7, 2010

    I love it!

This blender does all that Consumer Reports said it does. It crushed ice superbly and ha all the power one might want, the metal drive unit seems very sturdy, and it is a great all-round blender. CR said it wasn't as good at making icy drinks as others they tested, but the only problem I found was that the ice does not get completely blended in, especially if multiple cubes are added at once. I found it was less of a problem if each ice cube is added singly and blended well before adding the next one. However. when making just crushed ice, it will handle multiple ice cubes at a time (just be sure to use pulse mode and don't over-crush unless you want slush). The user instructions suggest using the small clear plastic top for measuring, but it is not labeled with any lines or amounts. The glass pitcher is sturdy and has a wide pouring lip, and I like the side projections which prevent the bottom from loosening during blending. It is marked with 1-cup (and 250 ml)... 5/5 N. great blender

I make frozen fruit smoothies every day and I needed a blender that could handle that sort of heavy duty use. I bought one of these at Costco after seriously considering both the Blendtec and The VitaMix machines. I am so glad I bought this one. It has proven to be a great blender. Every morning I toss in frozen strawberries, bananas, pineapple, blueberries, oranges, and other types of fruit. To that I add protein powder and milk, secure the top and use the automatic (this lovely machine shuts itself off) setting to make a pitcher of really great, icey cold, somewhat frozen smoothies. Some days the mixture is so thick that we have to eat the it with spoons! Once in awhile I have to stop the blender and stir the contents because a piece of frozen fruit gets stuck. But that is a rare occurrence (the reversing blades are great at keeping things moving and blending). So why do I give this blender 4 stars instead of five? It is noisy. In my opinion it is very noisy. I wish I would have known

I have used Oster blenders for years, my last one a beehive, glass jar one was wonderful and held up to almost daily heavy duty use. I purchased it over 5 years ago. The only problem I ever had was the eventual cracking and breaking down of the housing around the blade unit. It was constructed of a heavy very durable plastic. I ordered a replacement part which was sold to fit that particular blender and sold here on Amazon. It didn't last a month.I just received my new Oster 600 Watt Counterforms blender and yes it has a glass jar and it may be 600 watts but I was VERY disappointed to see that the housing around the blade unit is very cheap PLASTIC!!! I will try to use this blender but am already disappointed that Oster has scrimped on a very important part of the blender's durability and usefulness!!!6/29/2011 This is an edit - I bought this blender in August 2010 and here it is 10 months later and the housing completely split. Great blender

I have had this blender for almost 3 years now.In that time I have made numerous shakes, smoothiesand mixed drinks. The blades to date still do thejobs I intended them for. I haven't ever hadany problems with the motor or the blades stoppingmid blend. The noise is really loud but afterso many uses I've tuned it out. It is easy to cleanand doesn't look cheap or feel cheap. I don't usethe food chop button as I either chop etc.. myselfor I use my food processor. I didn't buy it for that.I'm very happy with this purchase then and now. 5/5 M. Kolias (Texas) - See all my reviews, August 4, 2010

    Great blender for the price

This is the best blender I've had, and also the least expensive. I've had it a few months, use it 4-5 times per week, and I'm really pleased with it. It blends properly and does not leave lumps in the bottom of the jar. The only odd thing is that you have to make sure the jug is positioned properly on the base - other brands of blenders I've used have jugs that lock down firmly. 4/5 Anon (Logan, UT, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Oster 6706 6-Cup Plastic Jar 10-Speed Blender, Black (Kitchen) This is the best blender I've had, and also the least expensive. It's Great! but the jar is Plastic...

I bought this blender about two months ago when my other Oster broke. Unlike my old one this came with a plastic jar. It works nicely and it can take a serious beating when i threw in four roma tomatoes whole. For the price it'll get the job done but if i could do it all over again i get one with a glass jar, cause plastic and odors from food like to hang out with each other. Plastic gets buffed in time as well. 4/5 1st2Fight - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great Blender

Customer Video Review Length:: 5:01 MinsSorry for the quality of the video, Amazon doesn't allow higher res videos but hopefully this will help you see what you are getting. Just to summarize this is a great blender especially for the price I was choosing between this and and I am extremely satisfied that I purchased the Osterizer because it has a higher capacity, way more blending options, and a built in fan to cool it. In the video the blender locks up for a second because I started with just straight ice and a little too much of it haha but once liquid and other ingredients were added all was well.Only cons are that it is plastic and that it doesn't lock although it is pretty secure. Also As stated in the video I have run this blender on high for 7 minutes straight... 5/5 Average Joe (MN) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) A real performerrrf

While I only purchased this blender a month ago,the the metal to metal design has been around a long time and is proven. I actually replaced an old Avocato Oster (circa 70's) blender that worked fine with a top of the line Kitchenaid three speed that I was finally glad to throw out. I have no axe to grind with Kitchenaid and own other of their products that work fine.I don't care what brand you buy but make sure that both the cup and the gear drive are both made of metal - metal to metal. If either is plastic, you'll be tossing it in five years or less. (Kitchenaid)Performance: tried crushing ice with this on high speed and it worked fabulously. Tried again on the low speed with the same results. Nice smooth ice and no chips. Also just used it to make a fine powder from soda crackers for a meatball recipe. Perfect. Nice soft powder, no chunks of crackers. My only other comment was price. If you do not need the Brushed Nickel, save the money ($20... 5/5 C. Frisbie - See all my reviews, June 25, 2010

    absolute junk..here's my story

Based on the other reviews for this product, I felt this would be an economical and well performing blender. It has only led to disappointment and frustration for me.I bought this blender at the store. The next day, I used it to blend batches of pumpkin soup. I have plenty of experience with Oster blenders, having owned the beehive model for several years. Yet I could not get the jar to sit securely on the motor base. It always seemed to have some wobble to it. I blended my soup, but somehow it didn't sound quite right to me, and there was a slight burning smell when it ran. Upon inspection I found that the drive shaft could be moved back and forth with my fingers. Looking through the vent at the bottom, I could see the whole motor was moving back and forth as I did this. About a 1/4 inch!I had already registered the warranty online, so I sent an e-mail to the company asking about this issue. I purchased this to replace a blender that was getting on in years. I specifically ordered it because of the glass jar. I feel healthier using glass products that are utilized over years of use. Great Blender but...

I like to make protein smoothies in the morning for a quick breakfast. I thought this blender would be perfect for blending on the go and since the price was so reasonable I gave it a try. The blender blends very well. I typically use frozen fruit in my smoothies and it blended them without a problem. My only issue with the blender and the one thing that stopped me from giving it 5 starts is the lid that comes with the cup. The lid has a very poor design. It is very wide at the top and the way the opening on the lid is lined up, liquid pools on the top and drips down on the back side of the cup. If it came with a better lid, this would be a 5 star product. Oster needs to rethink the lid design. 3/5 Tanya R. - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Awesome!!

I love my Oster personal blender!!! I have had the Magic Bullet for a few years and my mom thought the new Oster would be just like that so she thought it was pointless to buy. I ignored her and got it anyways and we love it! The Magic Bullet makes personal size smoothies, but it is far more expensive (although it does other things, too) and it's cups are just that--cups. They have no lid so you really can't take your smoothie with you unless you put it in another bottle. This is why I got the oster. You just blend, put the lid on, and go! It's great for drinking on the way to school or work and it is so fast to make! The longest part of the process is peeling any fruit you want to put in it, but if you use frozen fruit or fruit that does not need to be peeled, or you aren't making a fruit smoothie, it is quite fast! It can make frozen coffee drinks, smoothies, milkshakes, etc. IT is fantastic! The only thing I need now is for someone to sell extra bottles for it. Right now we only... 5/5 R. Awesome little blender

This is an awesome blender. It crushes ice and frozen fruit so easily and quickly. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars - the opening in the screw top (not the blade top) is not tight and the liquid spills out easily, so I'm going to leave the blade screw top on from now on. 4/5 W. Blender jar base does not match picture.

I have posted a picture of the old, thick, heavy Oster blender jar base next to the new, thin, lightweight model. The Oster blender jar base being sold by Amazon matches the unit shown on the right of my picture. It does not match the Amazon picture. Oster has chosen to replace its original, heavy-duty blender jar base with a cheaply-made, inferior knock off. This poor quality blender jar base seems to come with all new Oster blenders. This is an important point to consider when shopping for a new blender.Update, April 29, 2011:Today, I called Oster and the representative said that the Oster replacement blender jar base shown in the picture is no longer available. This representative also told me that mine is the first complaint she has received about the poor quality of this part. However, she also said that if enough people call and document their complaints about the blender jar base, Oster will produce an improved part. 1/5 One-Shot Scot (Berkeley, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Oster 4902-003 Replacement Blender Jar Base (Kitchen) I have posted a picture of the old, thick, heavy Oster blender jar base next to the new, thin, lightweight model. Really bad quality

I broke my old jar and jar base by dropping them to the floor, so I had to replace both. This new blender base started to have cracks after less than two weeks of use and it finally broke in to two pieces less than 3 weeks after I bought it. After looking at it more closely, I noticed that it had 6 different small cracks pointing perpendicularly outward from the hole in the middle of the base.My vocabulary doesn't even contain a word for describing how bad the quality of this thing is. What makes it even worse is that I spent almost $100 on the blender itself and there doesn't seem to be a replacement part of quality similar to the original. This is one good reason to avoid buying their blenders in the first place. 1/5 Edvard - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I wasn't sure if it would fit my "beehive" blend jar, but it did with no problems and is much better quality than the original plastic one. 4/5 R. McBride (Bend, OR) - See all my reviews, October 11, 2007

    Oster quality; works very well.

I can see no difference between the base of this blade and the original ice crushing blade that came with my blender. Fits perfectly and works very well. The difference comes in the fact that making milkshakes with this blade vs. the ice crushing blade is a huge improvement. The original blade just froths the bottom liquid while the milkshake blade really gets the mixture blended up nice and evenly. If you are a big fan of milkshakes and malts, i would highly recommend getting this blade over your original blade -- there is a big difference. 5/5 B. T. A Superior Product

I recently purchased the Oster 4096-009 because my old blender couldn't handle making the frozen fruit smoothies I really enjoy. I chose this product because the brand and style has been around since my mother was young. I was a little turned off by the idea of the glass beaker so I ordered the stainless replacement and put away the glass one. I also ordered the blend-n-go cup because of the smoothie thing. The blender is awesome. It looks great on my countertop and works better than any I have ever owned. Don't be put off by the concept that this blender only has two speeds - that's all you need. Be honest - how many times have you used anything more than pulse or full bore on your blender? I thought about it and realized that was all I ever used. This is one heavy duty unit, capable of reducting ice to snow and frozen fruit and alcohol into some incredible frozen drinks. A must have for anyone who's into shakes, smoothies or other blended products. 5/5 Noah Roget "Techno Geek" (CT United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Oster 4096-009 Designer Series Beehive Blender, Chrome (Kitchen) I recently purchased the Oster 4096-009 because my old blender couldn't handle making the frozen fruit smoothies I really enjoy. GREAT DEAL!

My new $37 "beehive" sits next to my soon-to-be-repaired $100+ KitchenAid, and it works great. I make smoothies every morning for breakfast and this baby kicks it. My son is brutal: ignores all procedural instructions, fills it with p.b., bananas, ice, and yogurt and then turns it on! It pauses a second then gets right to work. I'm like, "you have to put the ice in while it's running," and he's, "No you don't." We rarely take it apart to clean it, just rinse right away, sometimes a little suds, eh voila, it's done. I can tell you though the blades they are sharp! Regarding other reviews, it is loud, but hey, it's a blender! And do not need any other speeds, just the one and pulse. Can't say about frozen drinks/ice slushees, however does fine with ice for smoothies. Great deal! 5/5 L. Cusick (Sacramento, CA) - See all my reviews, July 19, 2009

    Oster Beehive Blender

My old blender was an Oster; we got it when we were married 40 years ago. I loved it and finally wore it out. Naturally my new blender had to be an Oster. I love the Beehive; it does exactly what it promises. With only 2 speeds it does what my older 8 speed did only more quickly and effeciently. It is very classy looking too. 5/5 Roslyn M. Great bottle for the My Blend blender!

I love this system...it's so easy to make your own mixes/smoothies and have a bottle to tote around afterwards. At first use, I had thought the seal and lid were poorly made, as liquid leaked everywhere. Then I realized that the silicone gasket in the lid just has to be properly seated and centered, and then it doesn't leak from the sides. Also, the lid needs to be pushed down quite firmly until a "snap" is heard in order for the lid seal to work.Otherwise, the material is quite durable, it's dishwasher safe, and Oster makes probably the most stylish personal blending system out there right now. If you have the My Blend blender, get an extra bottle - the green is nice and bright. It's worth it! 5/5 Andrew J. Hardin "tech handyman" (Fort Collins, CO USA) - See all my reviews, May 6, 2011

20 oz sport bottle by Oster

I already had the blender part, but the blender only comes with 1 sport bottle. With 3 kids that all want their own flavor smoothie, I decided to purchase several more of the bottles. They work great, but with all of the different colors of blenders/bottles out there that are sold together, why do the replacements only come in green? I was hoping to get each kid a different color. Other than the lack of color choice, the item is exactly what I expected. 4/5 shihtsusx2 - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great purchase

As someone who gets up at 4:30 in the morning to workout before heading to work, I loved the thought of making a protein smoothie that I can just make and run with it. This blender has a lot of power and I mix frozen berries, yogurt and protein powder for a wonderful drink. You do need to add some liquid which I just used a little water. So easy and clean up is a breeze. Love, love, love using this over my big blender! 5/5 K. Clanin "KK" (Columbus, OH) - See all my reviews, May 26, 2011
